1. Method of Appointment (by Category)
- 451/2025 — Direct Recruitment (General candidates).
- 452/2025 — Direct Recruitment from qualified Ministerial Staff (approved probationers) in Prisons Department.
- 453/2025 — Direct Recruitment from qualified Executive Staff (approved probationers) in Prisons Department.
2. Educational Qualification (All Categories)
- Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
- Rule Reference: KS & SSR Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable.
- Equivalency: Equivalent or higher qualifications recognized through Government orders are accepted — candidates must produce the original Government order(s) showing equivalence when requested.
3. Age Limit
- Eligible Birth Dates: 02/01/1989 – 01/01/2007 (both dates included).
- Age Range (by category listed uniformly):18–36 years.
- Relaxation: Usual age relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per rules.
4. Physical Standards
- Height (General): 165 cm.
- Height (SC/ST): 160 cm.
- Chest (on expiration): 81.3 cm.
- Chest Expansion: Minimum 5 cm.
- Measurement Timing: Physical measurements will be taken before the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
- Not Eligible: Women candidates and differently abled candidates are NOT eligible for these posts (as per the notification).
- Other Medical Fitness: Candidates must be free from major physical defects (e.g., knock-knee, flat foot, varicose veins, etc.).
5. Vision Standards & Eye Requirements
- Distant Vision: 6/6 (Right & Left).
- Near Vision: 0.5 (Right & Left).

- Other Eye Conditions: No colour blindness, squint, or morbid eye conditions permitted.
- Medical Certificate: Candidates must provide an original medical certificate from a Civil Surgeon confirming fitness and meeting the vision/medical standards when called for medical examination.

- Qualifying Rule: Candidates must qualify in any 5 out of the 8 PET events listed.

7. Medical & Physical Fitness

8. Probation & Training
- Probation: Selected candidates are required to serve 2 years on duty within a total period of 3 years of service as probation.
- Training: Training will be imparted at the Regional/State Institute of Correctional Administration or other designated training centres as per department instructions.
9. Other Important Points to Note
- Application: Candidates must have completed Kerala PSC One Time Registration (OTR) to apply. (Application window and procedure are per the main notification.)
- Validity of Ranked List: The ranked/selection list prepared from this notification will remain in force for a minimum of one year and up to three years or until a new list is published — candidates will be advised for appointment from that list according to vacancies reported during its currency.
- Document Proof: Bring originals of all qualification certificates, equivalency orders (if applicable), proof of age, community certificate (if claiming reservation/relaxation), and the Civil Surgeon medical certificate when called for verification/medical exam.

Kerala PSC Assistant Jailor Grade 1 Selection Process 2026
The selection for Assistant Jailor Grade I, Superintendent (Sub Jail), and Supervisor includes multiple stages, and candidates must clear all to qualify for appointment.
1. Written/OMR/Online Exam
- Candidates must confirm participation via One Time Registration (OTR).
- Only confirmed candidates can download the Admission Ticket (available 15 days before the exam).
