The Kerala Public Service Commission conducts examination for the recruitment of candidates to the Assistant Jailor post. The post comes under the Jails Department. The last notification for the same was a combined notification for Assistant Jailor Grade I/ Superintendent, Sub Jail/ Supervisor, Open Prison/Supervisor Borstal School/ Armourer, State Institute of Correctional Administration/ Lecturer, State Institute of Correctional Administration/ Training Officer, State Institute of Correctional Administration/ Store Keeper, Open Prison. Assistant Jailor Qualifications
Relaxation in the upper age limit can be availed by the eligible candidates meeting the government norms.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor Degree of a recognized University.
The applicants should be physically fit and meet certain physical parameters.
- The Physical measurement of the candidates will be taken at the time of physical Efficiency Test and those who do not possess the prescribed physical measurements will not be admitted for the Physical Efficiency Test.
- Proficiency in Sports, Military training and membership in NCC will be considered as a desirable qualification.
Candidates must have at least 165 cms height and 81.3 cms round the chest on full expiration and must have a chest expansion of 5 cm.
Standards of Vision: Must be certified to possess the following visual Standards without glasses.

Candidates should produce a Medical Certificate in original in the form prescribed hereunder certifying to their physical fitness and eyesight without glasses. The Medical Certificate should be one obtained from a Medical Officer, not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon.
Physical Efficiency Test
Candidates must qualify in at least five out of eight items in the Physical Efficiency Test qualifying the minimum standards of efficiency.

There will be a probation period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years from the joining date.
Assistant Jailors appointed by Direct recruitment shall undergo training at Regional Institute of Correctional Administration/State Institute of Correctional Administration as prescribed by the Head of Department.
Assistant Jailor: Application Procedure
The interested candidates should register themselves with the One Time Registration on the official website of Kerala PSC. Those who have already registered can log in using their Username and Password. Then click on the Apply Now button against the respective post. There are no examination fees. The applicants have to give confirmation prior to download of hall ticket. The profile will be blocked if the candidate fails to attend the exam after giving a positive confirmation. So, be sure that you will attend the exam!
Assistant Jailor Exam Pattern
This will be an objective OMR based exam with a duration of 75 minutes. Candidates have to attend 100 questions. There will be a negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer.
