Kerala PSC Assistant Jailor Grade 1 Vacancy 2026 – Category-wise
The vacancies for this recruitment are anticipated, and the final number will depend on the positions reported to the Kerala PSC during the validity of the ranked list. As per the notification, the list of selected candidates will remain in force for a minimum of one year and may extend up to three years or until a new list is published. 1. Recruitment Method
- 451/2025: Direct recruitment for general candidates.
- 452/2025: Direct recruitment for qualified Ministerial Staff (approved probationers) in Prisons Department.
- 453/2025: Direct recruitment for qualified Executive Staff (approved probationers) in Prisons Department.
2. Educational Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university is mandatory for all categories.
- KS & SSR Rule 10(a)(ii) applies.
- Equivalent or higher qualifications approved by the Government are accepted; candidates must present official equivalency certificates if required.
3. Age Criteria
- Eligible Birth Range: 02/01/1989 – 01/01/2007 (both dates inclusive).
- Category-wise Age Limit: 18–36 years.
- Relaxation: Applicable as per SC/ST/OBC rules.
4. Physical Fitness Standards

Kerala PSC Assistant Jailor Grade 1 Selection Process 2026
The recruitment involves multiple stages to ensure only eligible candidates are selected for appointment.
1. Written / Online Exam
- Candidates must confirm participation via OTR.
- Only those who download the admission ticket can appear for the exam.
- Missing the confirmation window results in automatic rejection.
2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Height, chest size, and chest expansion are checked before PET.
- Candidates not meeting standards are disqualified.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Candidates must pass at least 5 of 8 events following One-Star Standards.
- No retest is allowed for injury.
4. Medical Fitness Check
- Vision: 6/6 distant, 0.5 near; full field of vision.
- Free from physical defects (knock-knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, etc.).
- Medical certificate must be issued by a Civil Surgeon or higher with full details.
5. Certificate Verification
- Upload/present educational certificates, service certificate (if applicable), medical certificate, and ID.
- Failure to produce required documents may lead to rejection.
6. Rank List & Appointment
- Merit-based rank list prepared by Kerala PSC.
- Validity: 1 year minimum, up to 3 years, or until a new list is published.
- Appointments are based on rank and reported vacancies.
- For departmental posts (452/2025 & 453/2025), rank order is strictly followed, with no reservation or rotation rules applied.

- Registration: Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on Kerala PSC website. Upload a recent photograph with name & date. Valid for 10 years.
- Apply: Use ‘Apply Now’ under the notification. No fee required. Ensure all profile information is correct.
- Exam Confirmation: Confirm through OTR to download admission ticket. Only confirmed candidates allowed to appear.

Selected candidates for Categories 451/2025, 452/2025 & 453/2025 will draw a pay scale of ₹43,400 – ₹91,200/-. Besides the basic pay, employees receive other perks and allowances according to Kerala Government regulations.
