The Kerala PSC follows a multi-stage process to select suitable candidates for the post of Female Assistant Prison Officer. Each stage is designed to test knowledge, physical fitness, and medical standards.
1. Written / OMR / Online Test
- All eligible applicants will first appear for a written examination (either OMR or online).
- The exam will assess general knowledge, current affairs, reasoning ability, and other relevant topics.
- Only those who qualify in the test will be shortlisted for the next stages.
2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards (height, eyesight, and general physical condition).
- Those failing to meet the minimum requirements (e.g., 150 cm height or vision standards) will be disqualified.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Qualified candidates will undergo the National Physical Efficiency One Star Standard Test.
- Each candidate must clear five out of the eight prescribed events such as 100 m run, long jump, high jump, shot put, etc.
- Performance in PET is qualifying in nature – failing in this stage leads to rejection.
4. Medical Examination
- Candidates shortlisted after PET must pass a comprehensive medical check-up conducted by a Government Medical Officer (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon/Junior Consultant).
