Kerala PSC Excise Inspector Vacancy 2025
The Kerala PSC Excise Inspector (Trainee) recruitment for 2025 has announced a total of 6 (Six) vacancies. The list of selected candidates published in response to this notification will remain valid for one year from the date of finalization of the Ranked List.
The name of the post, age limit, and qualifications have been prescribed in accordance with various government orders including G.O.(P) No.112/74/TD dated 09.09.1974, G.O.(Ms) No.71/78/TD dated 08.06.1978, G.O.(P) No.113/2008/TD dated 04.06.2008 (SRO No.587/2008), G.O.(P) No.178/2015/TD dated 03.10.2015 (SRO No.669/2015), and G.O.(Ms) No.85/2017/TD dated 03.10.2017.
Kerala PSC Excise Inspector Eligibility Criteria 2025
To apply for the Kerala PSC Excise Inspector (Trainee) post, candidates must meet the following conditions:
Age Limit:
-
Candidates should be between 19 and 31 years, i.e., born between 02.01.1994 and 01.01.2006 (both dates inclusive). Age relaxations are applicable for SC, ST, and OBC candidates as per government norms. (For more details, refer to Part II, para 2 of the General Conditions).
Educational Qualification:
- Must possess a B.A., B.Sc., or B.Com. degree from any recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
- In the case of Ex-Servicemen, the minimum qualification is SSLC (Class 10).
- Equivalent or higher qualifications recognized by Government Orders or the Commission will also be accepted. Candidates must produce relevant documents if requested.
Kerala PSC Excise Inspector 2025 Physical Standards & Requirements
Physical Qualification
Candidates applying for the Excise Inspector (Trainee) post must be physically fit for strenuous outdoor work and should meet the following minimum physical standards:
For Male Candidates:
- Height: 165 cm (160 cm for SC candidates)
- Chest: 81 cm (with a minimum expansion of 5 cm)
Note: No chest measurement relaxation is allowed for SC/ST candidates.
For Female Candidates:

Height: 152 cm (150 cm for SC candidates)
Chest measurement is not applicable for female candidates.
Additionally:
- NCC Certificate holders will get weightage marks:
- ‘A’ – 2%, ‘B’ – 3%, ‘C’ – 5% (as per G.O.(MS) No.112/2007/H.Edn. dated 21.08.2007)
- Students Police Cadet (SPC) Certificate holders will receive weightage marks as per G.O.(MS) No.06/2025/P&ARD dated 01.03.2025.
- Meritorious sports persons will also receive extra marks, as per para 6 of the General Conditions.
Visual Standards (Without Glasses)
- Distant Vision: 6/6 (both eyes)
- Near Vision: 0.5 (both eyes)
Note:
Candidates must have a full field of vision. Conditions such as colour blindness, squint, knock-knee, flat feet, bow legs, varicose veins, and other apparent physical defects are disqualifications.
A Medical Certificate (in original) signed by a Civil Surgeon Grade-II or above in a Government Hospital must be produced when required.
Physical Efficiency Test
All candidates must qualify in at least five out of eight events listed under the National Physical Efficiency One Star Standard Test.

Note:
- Candidates who fail to meet the required physical standards will not be permitted to take part in the Physical Efficiency Test. No second chance will be given in case of injury or accident during the test.

Probation
Appointed candidates will be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous period of three years from the date of joining duty.
Training
Selected candidates must undergo training for at least 12 months as prescribed by the Commissioner of Excise. This training period will be counted towards probation and increment, as per G.O. (Ms) No.185/2011/Home dated 22.08.2011.
Departmental Tests
During the probation period, candidates must pass the following tests if not already cleared:

- Excise Tests – Parts A & B
- District Office Manual / Manual of Office Procedure
Kerala PSC Excise Inspector Selection Process 2025
The selection for the Excise Inspector (Trainee) post under Kerala PSC will be conducted in multiple stages, beginning with a Written Test:
1. Written Test / OMR / Online Exam
- All eligible candidates will first appear for a Written Examination, which may be in OMR-based or Online format, as decided by the Kerala PSC.
- The test will assess the candidate’s general knowledge, mental ability, current affairs, general science, and other relevant topics as specified in the syllabus.
- Based on performance in the written test, candidates will be shortlisted for the next stages.
2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
- Shortlisted candidates must undergo a Physical Measurement Test to ensure they meet the required height and chest measurements (as applicable).
- Candidates who fail to meet the prescribed physical standards will be disqualified at this stage.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who qualify the PMT will then take part in the Physical Efficiency Test, where they must qualify in at least five out of eight physical events, as per gender-specific standards.
4. Document Verification & Medical Examination
- Candidates who clear the PET will be called for document verification to validate their educational, identity, and category-related documents.
- A Medical Fitness Test will also be conducted to confirm physical and visual standards.
5. Final Rank List
- A final ranked list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written test along with applicable weightage marks (for NCC/SPC/sports achievements).
- This list will be valid for one year from the date of its finalization or until a new list is published.

According to the Kerala PSC Excise Inspector Notification 2025, the salary for the Excise Inspector (Trainee) post is ₹43,400 – ₹91,200/- per month.
