Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission(TNPSC) has invited applications from interested candidates to vacant positions in Combined Civil Services Examination – 4 (Group-IV). Applications are invited for the years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 for the Direct Recruitment against these vacancies. The Group IV posts included in the Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service, Tamil Nadu Judicial Ministerial Service, Tamil Nadu Survey and Land Records Subordinate Service, TamilNadu Secretariat Service and Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat Services. TNPSC Group 4 2019 Vacancy
- Every person appointed as the Village Administrative Officer(VAO) post shall reside in the village under his/her charge and shall continue to reside in the said Village as long as he/she is in- charge of that Village.
TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern
Successful candidates from the test shall be invited for the document verification process and the following counseling schedule. There will not be any interview process. There will be separate cut off marks for male & female candidates and for different categories.
TNPSC Group 4 2019 Job Profile
The posts under TNPSC Group 4 2019 recruitment drive is for Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant, Field Surveyor, Bill Collector, Draftsman, Typist, and Stenographer. There are 6491 vacancies across these posts. The selection process includes a single-stage written examination following the document verification.
For all the posts except the Stenographer, salary is in the pay band of Rs. 19500 – Rs. 62000/. For the stenographer the pay band is Rs. 20,500 -Rs. 65000/.
- In hand salary of VAO will be in between Rs.18,000/ & Rs.19,000/, depending upon the posting area.
Selected candidates will get different allowances like House Rent Allowance(HRA), Dearness Allowance(DA), etc.
- Dearness Allowance(DA) – 5% of Basic pay (Revised in every 6 months)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA) – Depends on the city you work
- City Allowance – Depends on the city you work ( For Chennai it is Rs.360/)
There are some deductions too, like :
- Contributory pension Scheme – 10% of your (Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance)
- Family Benefit fund – Rs.60
- New Health Insurance Scheme – Rs.180
Village Administrative Officer(VAO)
The “Panchayat Secretary” is considered as the Village Administrative Officer(VAO). She/He is the administrative head of the villages and has the power of maintaining the village funds-collection and disbursal. They are entitled to shortlist the eligible members for the government schemes, to initiate constructions, etc. The VAO is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of different records like land and revenue. The Village Administrative Officers will be promoted as an Assistant. After 06 years of service, they can attend the department tests for the promotions. Promotions up to Deputy Collector is possible depending upon the service period.
The Junior Assistant are recruited either for the Judicial department or towards the Ministerial Service. They are supposed to work under the secretaries and the Judges. The Junior Assistants main duty is to assist the day to day clerical works. Like the VAOs Junior Assistants can also attend the department tests after 06 years of service.
Typist and Steno Typist
Stenographers are usually worked as the personal assistants of the higher officials. In judicial services, they will be working as court clerks. They are supposed to draft the court orders and other dictations by the Judges. Typists works usually come after that of Stenographers. Typists are entitled to draft the court orders, meeting minutes and all other clerical data to the system servers. They are responsible to maintain the department servers up to date.
