The Union Public Service Commission exam for Indian Forest Services, also known as the UPSC IFS or UPSC IFS, is a national level Civil Service exam for the Indian Forest Services, specifically the Conservator of Forests. The Union Public Service Commission administers the UPSC IFS exam, which is held in 80 cities across the country. The UPSC IFS exam is a very difficult exam that is taken by over 10 lakh applicants with even fewer vacancies available. UPSC IFS Prelims Exam Analysis

  • The General English section was worth 200 points and consisted of 200 questions that had to be answered in 2 hours.

UPSC IFS Mains Exam Analysis

  • The General English section was worth 300 points and consisted of 300 questions that had to be answered in 3 hours.
  • Proper practice and a strong command of the English language would have sufficed to pass this section, as this is what the paper is designed to determine.
  • Along with other language-skill-based questions, an essay in English was required.
  • A passage was set up to serve as a summary or precis.
  • The General Knowledge section was worth 300 points and had 300 questions that had to be answered in 3 hours.
  • It required some research as well as keeping up with current events.
  • There were eight optional subjects from which to choose two. Each paper was divided into two sections with four questions each. Five of the eight questions must be attempted.
  • 1 question in each section will be mandatory, and 4 of the remaining 6 must be attempted, resulting in a total of 3 questions (1 compulsory and 2 optional) from each section.

UPSC IFS Examination Highlights

  • The UPSC IFS exam 2019 was an online MCQ exam that could be taken in both English and Hindi.
  • A total of six attempts are permitted.
  • Preliminary and main examinations are followed by an interview.
  • The Prelims consisted of two objective type 200-mark papers with a time limit of two hours to complete each.
  • The Mains consisted of six descriptive papers that had to be completed in three hours each.
  • For each correct answer in the Prelims, +1 mark is awarded; for each incorrect answer in the MCQ section, 1/3 mark is deducted; and selecting more than one answer for a single question will also result in mark deduction.
  • The Preliminary exam consisted of two papers, whereas the Mains exam consisted of six papers with two optional subjects to choose from, each with two papers. The interview was entirely dependent on the interviewers who were present.

UPSC IFS Exam Pattern Analysis

  • The candidates who wrote the exam had gone through three levels: Prelims, Mains, and Interview.
  • The Prelims exam will have a total of 400 questions on the two subjects for 400 marks to be solved in a two-two-hour period, with +1 marks awarded for each correct answer and 1/3 marks deducted for each incorrect answer, while double marking a question will also earn a 1/3 mark deduction.
  • The Mains exam will have a total of 1400 questions on 6 different papers for a total of 1400 marks to be solved in various time slots. Exams are also held on various dates. Two of the four subjects are optional, while General English and General Knowledge are required.
