Syed Hyder Raza
This famous painter from India lived in France since 1950, but maintained close knot relations with India. He is a very fine artist who was awarded the Padma Shri, padma bhushan and padma vibhushan awards. He was born in Babara, i.e the present Madhya Pradesh. His most notable painting was Saurashtra that was sold for a whooping 16 crores INR. He passed away in the year 2016 at the age of 94.
Tyeb Mehta
Tyeb Mehta top the list of most famous painters of the 20th century. He was born in Gujarat in 1925. He was also a filmmaker and sculptor. One among his notable paintings was a triptych celebration. He died in 2009.
Ram Varma

Ramkinker Baij
He is referred to as the pioneer of modern Indian Sculpture. This renowned sculptor worked with various regional stones and metals. He was born in the state of West Bengal. During his teenage Ramkinker Baij used to draw freedom fighter’s portraits.
Piloo Pochkhanawala
She was born in the year 1923. Also she was one among the few women sculptors in India. She used scrap metals over other mediums for her sculptures. She died in 1986.
Adi Davierwala
He was born in the year 1922 in Mumbai. He was a self taught sculptor and a qualified chemist. For the atomic energy establishment at L&T he exhibited huge sculptures. He died in 1975.
Meera Mukherjee
Meera Mukherjee was born in the year 1923 in Calcutta. She was a pioneer woman sculptor who was also a writer. The famous woman sculptor was known for her creations that were done using bronze and clay. She passed away in the year 1998.
