SBI Apprentice 2026 Eligibility Criteria – Age, Qualification
Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training in SBI or any other organisation under the Apprentices Act 1961 are NOT eligible. Additionally, candidates who had training or job experience of one year or more after obtaining their educational qualification are also NOT eligible.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a Graduation degree from a recognized University or Institute as on 01 April 2026. There is no restriction on the stream or discipline — arts, science, commerce, and engineering graduates are all eligible.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Age Limit (as on 01 April 2026)
- Minimum Age: 20 years (born not later than 01 April 2006)
- Maximum Age: 28 years for General/EWS (born not earlier than 02 April 1998)
- OBC (NCL): Upper age relaxed by 3 years → 31 years

SBI Apprentice 2026 Exam Pattern
The SBI Apprentice Online Exam 2026 is an objective-type written test of 60 minutes duration, divided into four sections:
- Each test has separate sectional timing of 15 minutes.
- Negative marking: ¼ mark deducted for every wrong answer.
- Each section is independently timed — you cannot carry forward time.
- Minimum aggregate marks required to qualify (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD get 5% relaxation).
- No minimum sectional cut-off — only aggregate matters.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Medium of Examination
The General English section is only in English. All other sections are available in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese, Urdu, Konkani, and Manipuri — depending on the state applied for.
For example, Kerala candidates can attempt the exam in English, Hindi, or Malayalam. This is a significant advantage for regional language speakers.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Merit List Preparation Rules
Candidates are placed in the merit list based on aggregate marks in descending order. No minimum sectional cut-off applies. Minimum qualifying aggregate marks (decided by the Bank) must be cleared — with a 5% relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / PwBD candidates. The merit list is drawn separately for each state and each category.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Local Language Test
Candidates who qualify in the online written test will be called for a Local Language Proficiency Test. This test assesses the candidate’s ability to read, write, speak, and understand the local language of the applied state.

SBI reserves the right to cancel or add exam centres based on administrative requirements. No request for change of centre will be entertained after submission.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Medical Examination
Shortlisted candidates must undergo a medical fitness examination as per SBI’s requirements. Engagement as an apprentice is subject to the candidate being declared medically fit. Candidates are advised not to suppress any medical history during this stage.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Document Verification & Final Joining
The final stage involves verification of all documents to confirm eligibility. The following conditions must be fully satisfied before the letter of offer is issued:
- Eligibility Verification: Age, educational qualification, and category certificates verified against originals.
- Category Certificates: OBC-NCL certificate (valid from 01.04.2026 to date of joining), EWS Income & Asset Certificate (FY 2025–26), SC/ST caste certificate in Government of India format, or PwBD disability certificate — as applicable.
- CIBIL / Credit Check: Candidates who have defaulted on loan repayments or credit card dues with banks/NBFCs/Financial Institutions and have not regularised/repaid outstanding amounts by the date of the offer letter are NOT eligible for engagement.
- Aadhaar Requirement: Mandatory for all candidates except those from Northeastern states (who may use alternate ID) before contract signing.
- KYE (Know Your Employee) Formalities: Satisfactory completion of KYE formalities is required before joining.
- Consent Form: Candidates must submit the Consent Form (Annexure IV) allowing SBI to share personal data with its associates and subsidiaries for future recruitment opportunities.
SBI Apprentice 2026 – District-wise Training Seat Allocation
One of the unique features of the SBI Apprentice Notification 2026 is district-wise training. Candidates can opt for any three preferred districts of their selected state at the time of registration. However, the bank will make the final allocation as per administrative requirement.

SBI Apprentice 2026 Stipend & Benefits
Apprentices receive a fixed monthly stipend of Rupees Fifteen Thousand for the full 12-month engagement period. No additional allowances, benefits, or perks are payable. This is not a regular employment; apprentices are not treated as employees of SBI.
Post-Training Benefits
While SBI has no obligation to offer regular employment after the apprenticeship, there is a significant indirect benefit. Apprentices who successfully complete the training — including passing the Skill Evaluation Test (Trade Test) and obtaining the Joint National Apprenticeship Certificate (SBI–NSDC / BFSI-SSC) — become eligible for weightage and relaxation in SBI Junior Associate recruitment, as per the bank’s prevailing policy.
SBI Apprentice 2026 Reservation & Special Category Guidelines
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates
OBC candidates must belong to the Non-Creamy Layer. OBC Creamy Layer candidates must apply under the General category. A fresh OBC-NCL certificate issued between 01 April 2026 and the date of joining must be submitted if selected.
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Candidates
An Income and Asset Certificate based on gross annual income for FY 2025–26 (valid for 2026–27) is required. Candidates not in possession of this certificate by the last date of application must apply under the General category.
PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability)
Horizontal reservation is provided for PwBD candidates under four categories: Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Locomotor Disability (LD), and Other categories (d & e) including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Multiple Disabilities. Only persons with 40% or more disability are eligible for reservation benefits.
PwBD candidates with 40% or more disability are eligible for a scribe and 20 minutes compensatory time per hour of examination.
