The Central Board of Secondary Education administers the CTET, or Central Teacher Eligibility Test, which is a national-level test in India (CBSE). It is used to determine whether or not candidates are qualified to be appointed as teachers. CTET is held twice a year and is for educators interested in teaching grades 1 to 8. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are the two types of CTET tests. Candidates who wish to teach grades 1 to 5 are required to take Paper 1. Candidates who intend to teach grades 5 to 8 are required to take paper 2.

The CTET is an offline exam that lasts 150 minutes. The test is administered in English and Hindi. CTET is held in over 112 cities across India. The admit card for the exam is usually made available three weeks before the exam date. CTET Exam 2022 is expected to be held in July. However, the board has yet to make an official announcement. Candidates can check the CTET official website for notification of upcoming exam dates. Candidates can obtain it from the CTET official website. CTET is required to become a teacher in both private and public schools. Candidates who pass the CTET can apply to any private school, government-aided school, or even Army school. It is critical to note that candidates are now eligible to apply for DSSSB, KVS, and NVS exams.

Are Engineering Graduates Eligible for The CTET Exam?
Engineering candidates interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree are eligible. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) 2014 relaxed the standards, allowing engineering graduates to pursue B.Ed programmes. With this decision, Engineering graduates will be able to pursue a B.ED programme in Mathematics and Science.

According to NCTE criteria, Engineering graduates with any background in Engineering courses and a minimum of 55 per cent marks are only eligible for a B.Ed course in Mathematics and Science at a specific university. Other candidates are also eligible to sit for the state-based TET exam. After completing an engineering programme, you can pursue a bachelor’s degree in education, which will qualify you for a variety of teaching positions.

Candidates for the CTET Exam must be graduates with a B.Ed degree, according to the basic eligibility criteria. As a result, candidates with a B.Ed degree after passing the Engineering exams are eligible to take the CTET exam in 2022.

CTET Eligibility for Paper-I
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year diploma in elementary education/4-year bachelor’s degree in elementary education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year diploma in elementary education
OR
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
OR
Candidates with “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” are now eligible to teach in Classes I-V: Primary Stage. Within two years of being appointed as a primary teacher, such candidates must complete a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognised by the NCTE.

CTET Eligibility 2022 For Paper-II
Graduation and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year elementary education diploma programme.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or enrolling in a 1-year Bachelor of Education programme (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45 per cent marks and completion or enrollment in a 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme, as defined by the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure).
OR
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed programme.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in a one-year B.Ed (Special Education).
OR
Any candidate who has completed a qualified B.Ed programme recognised by the NCTE is eligible to take TET/CTET.

New CTET Eligibility Criterion Added by CBSE
In the CTET December 2021 session exam, the CBSE added one more eligibility criterion. ‘Post-Graduation with at least 55% or equivalent grade and three-year integrated BEd – MEd’. Candidates who have obtained a minimum of 55% in their post-graduation with a three-year integrated BEd-MEd course from any NCTE recognised institution are eligible to sit for the CTET 2022 exam and will be considered for appointment as teachers in Classes 1 to 5. The condition that prevails, however, is that such candidates must complete a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education within two years of their appointment.

CTET Eligibility 2022 : Associated Conditions
- Candidates must have a diploma/degree in teacher education that has been recognised by NCTE.
- Only a teacher education course recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) will be considered for the Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed (Special Education).
- Following the appointment, a candidate with a Diploma in Special Education must complete an NCTE-approved six-month Special Programme in Elementary Education.
- Applicants are chosen as Physical Education teachers per NCTE regulations and standards.
- Other school management and state government norms apply to teachers of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, and other subjects until NCTE establishes its minimum eligibility standards for such teachers.
