Kerala PSC Assistant Surgeon Vacancy 2025
The number of vacancies for the post of Assistant Surgeon/Casualty Medical Officer is listed as anticipated vacancies. This means that the exact number of openings will be determined based on future requirements reported to the Kerala Public Service Commission.

Kerala PSC Assistant Surgeon Eligibility Criteria 2025
1. Method of Appointment:
The selection will be made through Direct Recruitment.
2. Age Limit:
Candidates must be aged between 18 and 42 years. Only those born between 02.01.1983 and 01.01.2007 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.
- Age relaxation is available for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Communities (OBC) as per government rules.

3. Educational Qualifications:
- Must possess a Degree in Modern Medicine (MBBS) or an equivalent qualification.
- Must have valid registration with the Travancore Cochin Medical Council.
Additional Notes:
- Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II of the KS&SSR (Kerala State & Subordinate Service Rules) applies to this post.
- Equivalent or higher qualifications recognized by Government orders or standing orders will also be accepted, provided they include the essential lower qualification. Proof of such equivalency must be produced when required by the Commission.

Kerala PSC Assistant Surgeon Selection Process 2025
The selection to the post of Assistant Surgeon/Casualty Medical Officer in the Health Services Department will be conducted through the following stages:
1. Written/OMR/Online Test:
Eligible candidates will first undergo a Written Test, which may be conducted in OMR (Objective) or Online format. This test will assess the candidate’s knowledge in the relevant medical subjects and general awareness.
2. Document Verification:
Candidates who qualify the written test will be called for Document Verification. At this stage, applicants must produce original documents to prove:
- Age
- Educational qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
- Valid registration with the Travancore Cochin Medical Council
- Caste/Community certificate (if applicable)
- Proof of age relaxation (if claimed)

3. Interview (if applicable):

Final Rank List:
Based on the performance in the written test and interview (if conducted), and after successful verification of documents, a Ranked List will be published. Candidates will be advised for appointment from this list as and when vacancies arise.
Note:

- Compulsory Service: Selected candidates must serve for four years within the first ten years of service (including training) in India or abroad under defence or related services if required. However, candidates above 45 years of age and persons with disabilities are exempted from this rule.

1. One Time Registration (OTR):
Before applying for the post, candidates must register through the ‘One Time Registration’ (OTR) process on the official website of Kerala Public Service Commission – www.keralapsc.gov.in.
- Those who are already registered can log in using their User ID and password.
- After logging in, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button next to the relevant post in the notification section.
2. Photograph Upload:
- New applicants must upload a recent photograph taken within the last 6 months.
- The name of the candidate and the date the photo was taken should be clearly printed at the bottom of the photo.
- Once uploaded according to the rules, the photo will remain valid for 10 years.
3. No Application Fee:

The confirmation window and ticket availability dates will be published in the Examination Calendar, and candidates will receive notifications in their profile and registered mobile number.
