There are four stages for the recruitment to the post of RRB ALP. The first stage is qualifying in nature and only those who pass them go to the next stage. Applicants for the post of ALP have to undergo another aptitude test. To get selected there is a final document verification without which the candidature remains canceled. The different stages are:

Candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Assistant Loco Pilot post must meet the following eligibility requirements:

The First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1) is the initial screening stage in the selection process. It is designed to shortlist eligible candidates for the Second Stage CBT (CBT-2) based on their normalized marks and merit within the same RRB. Here’s the detailed breakdown:

RB ALP 2025 CBT 2 Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-2) is the critical stage for shortlisting candidates for the subsequent recruitment stages, including the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification (DV). Here’s a detailed overview of CBT-2:
- Shortlisting for CBT-2: Candidates are shortlisted based on their normalized marks and merit in CBT-1. The shortlisting will be done RRB-wise and community-wise among the candidates who have selected the same RRB.
- Reservation Candidates: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS will be shortlisted for CBT-2 under the UR category if they have not availed any age, qualification, or marks relaxation.
- Community-Based Shortlisting: Candidates availing benefits of a community/category (e.g., Ex-servicemen/EWS) will continue to be considered within that community/category for all subsequent stages (CBT-2, CBAT, DV).
- Limit on Shortlisting: The total number of candidates shortlisted for CBT-2 will be 15 times the number of vacancies notified for each RRB. If multiple candidates score the same cut-off marks, all will be shortlisted.
- Flexibility in Limits: Railways reserves the right to increase or decrease this limit to ensure the adequate availability of candidates for the post.
- Final Merit: The final panel for ALP will be prepared based on candidates’ marks and merit in CBT-2 and CBAT.
