Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts examinations to recruit officers to the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP). The process of recruitment can be categorized as Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBT) and Document Verification. In addition to that, the CBT is divided into two, based on which a merit list is prepared. Only those who qualify for the cut-off mark are eligible to go to the next round. The last is medical fitness which ensures that only physically and mentally fit candidates are recruited for the post. RRB ALP Selection Process 2022
There are four stages for the recruitment to the post of RRB ALP. The first stage is qualifying in nature and only those who pass them go to the next stage. Applicants for the post of ALP have to undergo another aptitude test. To get selected there is a final document verification without which the candidature remains canceled. The different stages are:
- CBT I
- CBT II
- CBT Aptitude Test
- Document Verification
RRB ALP CBT- Stage I
The first stage of CBT is qualifying in nature and there will be MCQ-type questions in this stage. There will be subjects like Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science and Current Affairs. The total number of questions will be 75 and the time duration of the exam will be 1hour. There will be negative marking in this stage of examination. The qualifying students in this round will appear in the CBT stage II. This is a screening test for shortlisting candidates for the next level. The table below shows how the marks are distributed:

RRB ALP CBT Stage II
The candidates who qualify for the first stage cut-off will have to appear for CBT 2. In this stage, the question paper will have two parts as Part A and Part B. Part A includes 100 questions and the total time will be given to the candidate will be 90 minutes. Part B will have 75 questions and the duration of the paper will be 60 minutes. However, there is negative marking and 1/3rd marks will be deducted for one wrong answer. The language mode of the Question paper in English/Hindi/14 different regional languages. Part A comprises of the following sections – Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Part B comprises of DGET Trade syllabus.

RRB ALP CBAT Stage
CBAT is Computer Based Aptitude Test conducted by RRB to check the candidate’s ability to respond aptly to a threat. The CBAT is taken only by those candidates who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot Posts. Candidates who qualify the Part A and B of Second Stage CBT will be eligible to take the CBAT test. Candidates must appear at every stage of the Computer-Based Aptitude Test. There is no negative marking in RRB ALP CBAT.
RRB ALP Selection Process- Document Verification
The Railway Loco Pilot Selection Procedure 2022 for Document Verification will be based on the candidate’s performance in Part A and B of Second Stage CBT. Candidates equal to 50% of the number of vacancies will be called out for Document Verification Round. Candidates must carry the following documents during the Document Verification Round:
- Educational Qualification Certificates
- Certificate of Eligibility from Government of India
- Marksheets
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Aadhaar Card
- Category Certificate (optional)
- PWD Certificate
- Other declaration certificates
RRB ALP Medical Fitness Test
This is the last and final stage of the RRB ALP Selection Process 2022. After the completion of all the Computer Based Test and Document Verification, candidates have to undergo a Medical Fitness Test. Some of the tests include – Eye Vision Test, Color Blindness Test, Hand Movement Test, Blood Test, etc. If you are physically fit and pass all the Medical Tests, then you will be finally selected for Railway Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician Posts. A merit list will be prepared for all the final selected candidates. The Railway Recruitment Board takes a lot of effort to select the candidate for a desirable post. Candidates must be both mentally and physically fit so that they can handle any tough situation. The requisite medical standards is tabulated below:
