Stage 1: One Time Registration and Online Application
Applications are accepted only online through the official Kerala PSC website, www.keralapsc.gov.in.
How to apply
- Register under One Time Registration (OTR) on the website. If you’re already registered, log in to your profile with your User ID and password.
- Find the post and click “Apply Now” in the notification link for Category No. 156/2026.
- Check your profile details carefully before you submit.
- Submit the application and keep a printout or soft copy. You can print it from the “My Applications” link in your profile.
Key rules from the notification
- Eligibility: Only SC/ST candidates of Kerala State can apply. Applications from other candidates will be rejected, and no individual notice of rejection will be sent.
- Fee: No application fee.
- Age: 18–45 years, for candidates born between 02.01.1981 and 01.01.2008 (both dates included). No other age relaxation applies. If there are no qualified candidates within the limit, the upper age limit can be relaxed up to 50 years, and never beyond 50.
- Qualification: S.S.L.C. or equivalent, plus a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a K.G.T.E/M.G.T.E Group Certificate, or one of the other qualifications listed in the notification.
- One profile only. Creating multiple profiles can lead to forfeiture of your candidature.
- Photograph: New profiles must upload a photograph taken within the last six months, with the candidate’s name and the date of the photograph printed legibly at the bottom. A photograph that meets the specifications is valid for 10 years from the date it was taken.
- Aadhaar: If you have an Aadhaar card, add it as ID proof in your profile.
- No changes after submission. An application is accepted provisionally, and it can’t be deleted or altered once it’s submitted. Check everything before you click submit.
Stage 2: Scrutiny of Applications
Applications are processed after the last date. An application is accepted only provisionally at the time of submission, and it can be rejected at any stage if it doesn’t comply with the notification.
Common reasons for rejection include:
- Applying without being SC/ST
- Not meeting the age limit or qualification
- Multiple profiles
- Incorrect or false claims in the profile
Original documents to prove qualification, age, community and other claims are asked for later, and you should keep them ready.
Stage 3: Confirmation to Write the Exam
If a written, OMR or online test is held as part of the selection, candidates must submit a confirmation through their One Time Registration profile that they will appear for it.
- Only candidates who confirm can generate and download the admission ticket.
- The application of a candidate who doesn’t confirm within the stipulated period will be rejected.
- The period for confirmation will be published in the examination programme. Candidates also receive the information in their profile and on the registered mobile number.
Don’t miss this step. It’s one of the easiest ways to lose a chance after you’ve already applied.
Stage 4: Admission Ticket and the OMR Test
Admission ticket
- Candidates who have confirmed can download the admission ticket during the last 15 days before the date of the test.
- Check the exam centre, date and time on the ticket, and carry a valid photo ID.

PSC doesn’t publish a marks split in this syllabus, so the priority column is only a guide for study time.
Net score = Correct answers − (Wrong answers ÷ 3)
The notification says a written, OMR or online test is held “if conducted”. The pattern above is from the published syllabus page, so please check the exam programme for the final details.
Stage 5: Answer Key and Objections
After an OMR test, Kerala PSC publishes a provisional answer key. In previous OMR examinations, complaints about the answer key had to be submitted online through the candidate’s OTR profile within a short window of 5 days from the date the provisional key was published. Keep an eye on the dates published for this exam.
Stage 6: Probability List and Document Verification
After the OMR test, the Commission prepares a probability list: a list of register numbers of candidates who are provisionally eligible to be included in the ranked list, subject to verification of original documents. In the last cycle for this post (Category No. 682/2023), the OMR test was held on 07-01-2025, and the probability list was issued on 26/06/2025. The candidates included in it were to attend verification of their original documents. The arrangement of register numbers in the list does not show rank.
What to expect
- You may receive a message in your profile asking you to upload documents that prove your qualification and other claims. Upload them within the stipulated time. If you don’t, you won’t be considered for the next stage.
- Original documents for qualification, age, community and other claims must be produced when called for.
- If the caste or community you claimed differs from the entry in your SSLC book, you must produce a Gazette notification along with a community certificate at the time of certificate verification.
Documents to keep ready
- SSLC certificate
- Qualification certificate (diploma, K.G.T.E/M.G.T.E, trade certificate or other qualification you applied with)
- Community certificate
- Photo ID and Aadhaar, if you have it
- Any government order showing equivalence, if you applied with an equivalent qualification
- A printout of your application
Stage 7: Ranked List
After verification, the Commission publishes the ranked list, which lists the candidates in order of merit.
Validity of the ranked list (from the notification)
- The list stays in force for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.
- It will stop being in force earlier only if a new list for the same post under the same method of appointment is published after the minimum one-year period.
- In the previous cycle, the ranked list for Category No. 682/2023 came into force from 18/08/2025.
How the list is used
- Advice for appointment is made from the list for the vacancy in this notification, and also for further vacancies reported for Special Recruitment from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates while the list is in force.
- Vacancies of this post reported exclusively for Scheduled Tribes are filled from this list if there is no separate ranked list or separate selection under way for them.
- If there are no Scheduled Tribe candidates on the list, a fresh notification exclusively for Scheduled Tribes will be issued.
Stage 8: Advice for Appointment and Joining
- Appointments are made on the basis of rank, subject to the Government orders on special reservations for SC/ST and the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules cited in the notification.
- Advice memos are sent to candidates in the order of the ranked list, when vacancies are reported.
- Candidates must then complete the joining formalities as per the appointment order.
Stage 9: Probation
Every person appointed under this notification is on probation for two years on duty within a continuous period of three years, from the date of joining duty.
