As a Higher Secondary School Teacher or the Vocational Higher Secondary Teacher, you will be teaching students in the classes 11th and 12th accordingly. You will be specialized in one specific subject and accountable for evolving in your students a strong basic level of knowledge in the subject and preparing them for college.
Kerala SET 2025 Job Role & Responsibilities
Higher Secondary/Vocational Higher Secondary school teachers support students in understanding the nature, purpose, and philosophy of the subject. They guide students on the subject concepts, train them for self-study and independent learning, help them conceive reference skills, critical thinking, and conceptualization, and enable them to undertake group learning. They also aim to create among the students the skills for promoting national consciousness and communal harmony.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide lectures, discussions, and demonstrations on one or more subjects
- Delegate classwork and homework to Higher Secondary School students
- Evaluate and grade the test papers and classwork and homework assignments
- Prepare the students for qualifying examinations
- Develop the rules for behavior in the classroom and on school premises
- Administer strategies for holding order among the students
- Redesign teaching/instructional strategies and materials according to the irregular needs and interests of the students
- Maintain student records accurately
- Meet with the parents and share about students’ progress work
- Participate in departmental conferences and school training events
- Organize extracurricular activities, such as picnics, sports, and other activities
