RRB Group D 2022 Job Profile

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is one of the biggest Central Government organization, which provides many jobs for the people. Recently RRB Group D 2022 CEN No. RRC-01/2019 has issued a notification to select candidates for the various posts like Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant Pointsman in Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix in various departments of Indian Railway. In this article, we are covering up the RRB Group D 2020: Job Profile.

RRB Group D employees should make sure of cleanliness and maintenance of railway properties. The application submission is only through online mode. The exam dates of RRB Group D 2022 will be announced soon. As per official notification, it was scheduled to be conducted in September-October.

RRB Group D 2022: Job Profile

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) with support of Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs) are conducting RRB Group D 2020 recruitment for various job positions like;

1. Cabin man
2. Fitter
3. Gangman
4. Group D- store
5. Group d – Engg
6. Helper- II ( Electrical)
7. Helper-II (Mechanical)
8. Helper –II (S &T)
9. Keyman
10. Leverman
11. Pointsman
12. Porter
13. Shunter
14. Switchman
15. Trackman
16. Welder

Responsibilities according to the job positions:

Assistant Pointsman or Switchman: Assisting in handling of switches and railroad points. And to control the lever to direct the train to the required rail track.

Porter: Handling the loading and unloading of railway passengers and goods, also helping the passengers at the railway station.

Shunter: They safely move the trains between the yards and platforms; they marshal the trains, hook on locomotives and remove defective carriages.

Gateman: Maintenance and smooth functioning of Gates at railway crossings to ensure no delays of trains occur because of road traffic.

Helpers in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Signal and Telecommunication Departments: They have to assist the skilled workers such as Fitters, Mechanics, Welders, Machinist, Equipment maintainers etc, during their technical works. They are also be deputed to assist in non-technical works in the offices etc.

Track maintainer: Maintains the railway tracks and removes any unwanted materials from the tracks.

Cabin man/ Leverman: Watch over the safe passage of trains arriving and leaving a station. Clearing signals for trains to pass.

Fitter: Fitters and electricians carry out the practical work needed to keep railway machines and equipment running smoothly and safely.

Keyman: They have to regularly check sections of tracks for faults with a view to prevent accidents.

RRB Group D 2022: Eligibility Criteria

The job seekers should check out the eligibility criteria before applying for the posts. The eligibility criteria of RRB Group D according to the official notification are Nationality, Educational Qualification and Age limit is given below. Those who fulfills the eligibility criteria will only be selected for the recruitment process.

Nationality

The candidate must be either a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee who came to India, before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. These are the criteria formulated by the Government of India regarding the citizenship.

Age Limit

The candidates should be in between 18 to 33 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is given to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Age relaxation should be as per July 1, 2019, as given below:

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must be Class 10 pass or ITI from Institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
• ITI has been made non-mandatory for Group D recruitment.

The exam pattern of RRB Group D comprises of four stages, first one is a Computer Based Test (CBT), second is a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), the third stage is Document verification and  the final stage is Medical examination. The question for Computer Based Test will be from the following sections:

• General Science
• Mathematics
• General Intelligence and Reasoning
• General Awareness and Current Affairs

The duration of the test is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Objective type multiple choice questions will be asked in the CBT. The question paper will be provided in 15 languages. The total number of questions is 100 and each one carries one mark; for each wrong answer there is a deduction of 0.33 marks.
