Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) invites applications from eligible candidates for Specialist Officer posts. The IBPS SO Official notification is released. Interested candidates make no further delay to apply for the job. The IBPS SO Selection Process 2024-25 will be held under three stages namely – Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview.
The candidates who clear the Preliminary examination will be called for the Mains exam. Once the candidate successfully clears the Mains, they shall be called for the final stage i.e. Interview. Interested candidates can go through this article to find details on IBPS SO Selection Process.
IBPS SO 2024 Selection Process
IBPS SO selection procedure takes place in the following three stages. The Preliminary exam will be conducted by IBPS, which will be followed by the Mains Exam. The final stage shall be the Interview.
- IBPS SO Preliminary Exam – The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the IBPS SO Recruitment process. The examination is of 125 marks. The candidate needs to clear an overall cut off to get into the next level i.e. main exam.
- IBPS SO Mains Exam – The Mains Examination is the second stage of the IBPS SO Recruitment process. The Mains exams will be conducted separately for each branch as there will be subject related questions. The Mains examination is of 60 marks.
- IBPS SO Interview – The final stage in the selection procedure is the Interview. The candidate can reach this stage only after clearing both Prelims and Mains examination. The candidates will be interviewed by designated Public Sector Bank Officers. The total marks allotted for the Interview are 100. The candidate should score minimum qualifying marks in the interview. Therefore, the candidates cannot score less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The ratio of Online Exams and interviews will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates will arrive on the basis of total scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination and Interview. If the candidate does not score minimum qualifying marks, then he/she will be barred from the interview. The candidates appearing for the interview have to carry the below-mentioned documents –
- Valid interview call letter
- A valid copy of the online application form
- Date of Birth proof document
- Valid Photo ID
- Mark sheets or certificates for educational qualifications
- Caste certificate(for SC/ST)

IBPS SO 2024: Interview
The candidates will have to pass the Preliminary and Mains examination to secure the post of Specialist Officer. Then the candidates will be called for an interview. The Interview of IBPS SO 2024 will be conducted by the participating organizations of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection and will be coordinated by the nodal banks in each State or Union territory, with the assistance of IBPS.
Candidates who will successfully clear the IBPS SO prelims and mains examination will be called for the interview round based on the marks obtained by them. The interview round consists of 100 marks in total.
Documents Required
- Print out of valid Interview Call Letter.
- Print out of valid IBPS SO Application Form.
- Date of Birth Proof (Birth Certificate or SSLC/ Standard X Certificate with Date of Birth).
- Identity Proof.
- All Important certificates related to your educational qualification.
- Cast Certificate issued by competent authority, in case of SC/ST/OBC categories.
- In case of Persons with Disability (PwD) category, you need to carry a Disability Certificate issued by District Medical Board.
- Candidates who are currently serving in Government Departments are required to produce a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer at the time of interview.
- Persons who are eligible for age relaxation, must bring a certificate regarding the same in the interview.
- An Ex-serviceman candidate must submit a relieve certificate.
- Apart from these, keep your Computer Literacy Certificate, Two Passport-Size Photos & PAN Card handy.
- Candidates will not be allowed to appear in the interview, if they do not produce all the above-mentioned documents during the document verification round of IBPS SO Selection Process 2024.
- There is a Document Verification counter at your venue of IBPS SO Interview. Every candidate has to go through strict Document Verification Process for IBPS Specialist Officer Job.
IBPS SO 2024: Allotment
- Candidates will be provisionally allotted to one of the participating organizations of IBPS, based on the available vacancies and merit-cum-preference basis.
- In case 2 or more candidates obtain the same score in the exam, the merit would be decided based on the date of birth of the candidate, i.e. the candidate higher in age would be placed above the one junior candidate).
- No request for change shall be accepted after making a provisional allotment to the participating organization.
- A reserve list will be carried out for the candidates in case of an extension in a number of vacancies and recruiting agencies to have the right to cancel and re-allot the organization, depending on exigencies.
