Join NowISRO URSC Selection Process 2026 – Exam Pattern & Details
The selection has three stages: initial screening, then a Written Test / Computer Based Test (CBT), then a Skill Test. Having the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for the written test. Screening is based on the academic performance and other details you enter in your application.
URSC Technician-B: Exam Pattern
| Stage | Details |
|---|---|
| Written Test | 80 MCQs in 1.5 hours; +1 for correct, −0.33 for wrong; syllabus is curriculum based |
| Skill Test | 100 marks, qualifying in nature |
| Category | Written Test Pass Marks | Skill Test Pass Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Unreserved | 32 / 80 | 50 / 100 |
| Reserved (only where the post is reserved) | 24 / 80 | 40 / 100 |
- Candidates are shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 candidates.
- Tie-breaker: if scores tie, candidates with a valid NAC score get preference.
URSC Driver Posts: Exam Pattern
The written test has 100 MCQs in 120 minutes, with ¼ negative marking (−0.25 per wrong answer).
| Part | Subject | Questions |
|---|---|---|
| A | Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (licensing, registration, traffic control, insurance, offences and penalties, mandatory signs, accident claims) | 50 |
| B | Elementary English (8th std) | 15 |
| C | Elementary Arithmetic (10th std) | 15 |
| D | General Knowledge (current affairs, who’s who, states & capitals, geography of India) | 20 |
- To pass, you need 50% in Part A and 50% in Parts B, C and D combined.
- Reserved categories get a 25% relaxation in passing marks, wherever the post is reserved.
- Candidates are shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:10 ratio.
- The Skill Test (driving test) is purely qualifying, for 100 marks, and the pass mark is 60. No relaxation applies for any category.
- Tie in written test scores: the academic marks of the notified qualification are the tie-breaker.
The written test may be conducted online or offline, in Bengaluru or other cities in India. The Skill Test is held only in Bengaluru.
