- UR (Unreserved) vacancies make up about two-thirds of the total (40 of 61).
- EWS has 10 vacancies, spread over five posts.
- ST vacancies appear only in Electronics Mechanic and Fitter.
- SC vacancies are in Electrician, R&AC, Light Vehicle Driver-A and Heavy Vehicle Driver-A.
- OBC vacancies are in Electronics Mechanic, Fitter and Heavy Vehicle Driver-A.
- Against single-vacancy posts such as Turner, Motor Vehicle Mechanic and Electroplater, competition will be concentrated on one seat.
- No relaxation applies against UR vacancies. Where a post is not reserved for SC/ST/OBC/EWS, those candidates apply on par with UR candidates.

Join NowISRO URSC vs MCF Hassan Vacancy
Some posts are earmarked for the Master Control Facility (MCF), Hassan, and the rest are for URSC. The table notes this with a split such as “(2+2)”. My reading is:
| Post | Total | URSC (Bengaluru) | MCF Hassan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrician | 4 | 2 | 2 (1 UR + 1 SC) |
| Refrigeration & Air Conditioning | 5 | 4 | 1 (UR) |
| Heavy Vehicle Driver-A | 10 | 8 | 2 (UR) |
The MCF-identified posts total 5 (Electrician 2, R&AC 1, HVD 2). Candidates should check the notification’s post notes to confirm where their post is identified, as the “(a+b)” notation is my interpretation of the table.
Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Reservation in URSC Vacancy 2026
Ex-Servicemen get a significant share of URSC’s vacancies.
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Technician-B vacancies reserved for ESM | 21 |
| Driver vacancies reserved for ESM | 8 (2 in LVD-A, 6 in HVD-A) |
| Total ESM-reserved vacancies at URSC | 29 |
| Of these, backlog vacancies | 24 |
| MCF Hassan posts | 1 vacancy reserved for an Ex-Serviceman (only in HVD-A) |
How ESM reservation works:
- Candidates appointed under the ESM quota are adjusted against the vacancy of their respective category (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS).
- If suitable Ex-Servicemen are not available for the backlog vacancies, those posts are filled by candidates of the identified vertical reservation category.
- Ex-Servicemen can apply for posts suitable to them even if the post is not reserved for them, and are selected on general merit.
PwBD Vacancy in URSC Recruitment 2026
| Post | PwBD Vacancy Details |
|---|---|
| Electronics Mechanic (24) | 2 for PwBD (VH), including 1 backlog vacancy; 1 for PwBD (OH); 1 backlog vacancy for PwBD (ASD) |
| Fitter (8) | 1 for PwBD (HH) |
| Electrician (URSC’s 2 vacancies) | 1 backlog vacancy for PwBD (ASD) |
| R&AC (URSC’s 4 vacancies) | 1 backlog vacancy for PwBD (HH) |
VH = Visually Handicapped, OH = Orthopaedically Handicapped, HH = Hard of Hearing, ASD = Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Key points for PwBD candidates:
- Only persons with at least 40% of the relevant disability are eligible for reservation and relaxation.
- PwBD backlog vacancy: if no suitable candidate with the notified disability is found, the department tries to fill it with a candidate having any other benchmark disability. So all PwBD candidates are encouraged to apply.
- If it still isn’t filled, it goes to the identified vertical reservation category.
- PwBD candidates appointed are adjusted against the respective SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR vacancy.
- PwBD candidates can apply for suitable posts even if not reserved for them, but are selected on general merit.

- Posts are temporary but likely to continue indefinitely.
- Any corrigendum changing posts, vacancies or qualifications is published only on ISRO/URSC websites, not in newspapers.

Tips to Choose the Right Post
- Match your trade exactly. Technician-B needs an NCVT ITI/NTC/NAC in the post’s own trade.
- Look at the vacancy count. Electronics Mechanic (24) and Heavy Vehicle Driver (10) have the most seats.
- Check your category’s vacancies. For example, ST candidates have seats only in Electronics Mechanic and Fitter.
- Ex-Servicemen should look closely at the 29 ESM-reserved seats, especially the 24 backlog ones.
- PwBD candidates should apply even if their disability type isn’t listed. Backlog vacancies can be filled by other benchmark disabilities.
- Don’t apply for multiple posts with clashing exam sessions. Choose one.
