Time and again, the staff selection commission releases recruitment notifications to select interested and eligible candidates for the three major posts in the Central Police Organization. They are :
- Sub Inspector GD (General Duty ) in CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces).
- Sub Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police (both male and female).
- Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force).

Detailed SSC CPO Posts List
Even though the SSC CPO Recruitment is done to select candidates to three major departments, there are different posts listed in some of them. To say the least, if we consider the posts listed under the CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces), we will find seven major job positions in it. They are:
- BSF- Border Security Force
- CRPF- Central Reserve Police Force
- CISF- Central Industrial Security Force

Each of the aforesaid forces are the security forces of India. And they fall under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Major Functions of various SSC CPO Posts
Border Security Force -BSF
One of the most important duties of BSF is to protect the Indian Border, as the name suggests. This includes the Indo-Pak Border as well as the Indo- Bangladesh border. Apart from this, the BSF is also responsible for bringing in a sense of security to the people living in the borders. They also must be vigilant to border intelligence and other illegal activities.
Central Reserve Police Force – CRPF
Firstly, they are responsible for the security of various government organizations and industrial units in the country. This includes thermal, nuclear, hydro power plants, mines, etc. Moreover, they are also responsible for the control of naxal activities and related events in the country.
Central Industrial Security Force- CISF
Apart from providing protection to the major Government Organizations and Infrastructure across the country, CISF is also responsible for the security of the airports in the country. As they shoulder this huge responsibility, they also provide security services to important persons as advised by the Government of India.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBF)
The intention of ITBF is to exclusively protect the Indo-China border. It also aims to have a check on all major happenings around the border including illegal immigration, smuggling, etc.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
One of the major aims of SSB is to promote brotherhood amongst the people living across the borders. Moreover, it also aims to reduce illegal happenings like smuggling in the border regions of the country.
Assam Rifles – AR
Assam Rifles along with the Indian Army is responsible for maintaining the law and order in the North Eastern states of India. This category falls under one of the six CAPFs under the ministry of Home Affairs.
National Security Guard – NSG
NSG is a specialist force that helps to prevent or tackle any terrorist activities or related events in the country.
