World Hindi Day 2023 – Date
Vishv Hindi Divas otherly called ‘ World Hindi Day’ is celebrated every year on the 10th of January to honor the anniversary of the First World Hindi Conference held in 1975. It was held in Nagpur from 10th to 12th of January 1975. Moreover, it was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India Smt. Indhira Gandhi. This first conference was attended by 122 delegates from 30 countries across the globe. However, the decision to celebrate World Hindi day was made only in 2006. Since then, every year January 10 is celebrated as the World Hindi Day.
World Hindi Day Vs Hindi Diwas
World Hindi Day and National Hindi Diwas are often mistaken for the same event. They are in reality, completely different from each other and bears no similarities. As said earlier, World Hindi Day aims at promoting Hindi language in the International platform. It remembers the anniversary of the very first World Hindi Conference held on January 10 in the year 1975 in Nagpur, India.
However, National Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on the 14th of September to celebrate the event when the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi as the official language of India in 1949. In order to propose the importance of this decision by the constituent assembly, every year September 14 is celebrated as the Hindi Diwas. Moreover, this day, marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Singh, who had worked effortlessly to bring out this decision about the official language of India.

This Day is marked by celebrating various programs for promoting Hindi language by Governmental and Non- Governmental Organizations across the country. Moreover, Indian Embassies in different countries around the globe celebrates this day by organizing various programs.

History of World Hindi Day 2023
The first World Hindi Conference was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi on January 10, 1975 in Nagpur. With the Mauritius Prime Minister as the chief guest, it was attended by 122 delegates from 30 different countries of the world. Many countries, other than India, have played the host to World Hindi Conference.

However, in 2021 Fiji hosted the 12th World Hindi Conference. Fiji constitution has already declared Fiji Hindi as one of the three official languages of the country.

Significance of World Hindi Day 2023
World Hindi Day is celebrated yearly to monumental the first World Hindi Conference, which took place in 1975. As Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh stated World Hindi Day for the first time on January 10, 2006, and it has before been observed as a special day to encourage Hindi as an international language, it is important to preserve the values that were seeded long back. The world of language is going through certain dimensions of modifications and transformations. In this growing world, it is adequate to preserve the goodness of language that we hold close to the heart of history. To remind oneself and the new generation, there is a strong necessity of generation and remembrance of history on this day.
