Today, we are going to discuss something which is not a rare topic still something will be definitely missing in our level of understanding about this. Isn’t it? Well, here we will help you to know how to become an SBI clerk, for all who is in the teenage stepping out to the world of opportunities at the same way it will be definitely helpful for who all are searching for a secure prestigious career in public sector bank.  Before going into depth of the subject let us give you all an intro about SBI, India’s leading Public Sector Bank, and its clerical recruitment.

SBI is conducting their recruitment separate from IBPS, for different cadres in its different branches across the country. Clerical cadre is the entry-level category for UG degree holders as well, and the designation is as ‘Junior Associate’ ( J.A.). 

How to become an SBI Clerk?

How the job nature will be?

Junior associates are the bank personnel who are directly interacting with the customers and client-related operations and it is creating a huge opportunity almost every year for candidates to get into this clerical cadre as it is the basic step to higher designations. These Junior associates are responsible for acts as cashiers, money depositors etc. , they are likely to be the face of SBI, because their dealing actually matters the firm in making business as it is customer-centric in nature. So, interaction to customers matters, Junior associates are supposed to be polite, versatile and spontaneous in action as well as response to customers.

What are the criteria?

Let’s see the criteria:

  1.  Educational Qualifications: Candidate must hold a valid degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  2. Age Limit:

Not below 20 years and not above 28 years.

SC / ST

-33 years

OBC -31 years

Person with disabilities (General) -38 years

Person with disabilities (SC /ST) -43 years

Person with disabilities(OBC) -41 years

Jammu & Kashmir Migrants -33 Years

Ex-Servicemen/Disabled Ex-Servicemen: Actual period of service rendered in defence services + 3 years, (8 years for Disabled Ex-servicemen belonging to SC/ST) subject to a max. age of 50 years

Widows, Divorced women ( No remarried) – GEN- 35 years, OBC – 38 years, SC/ST- 40 years

How the process is?

  • SBI Clerk Notification will be out
  • Start filling details on SBI Clerk Online Application in its official website
  • Remitting of fees and download and keep the print out for further reference
  • Download the call letter for Preliminary Examination once it is published
  • SBI Clerk Exam (Preliminary) will be conducted
  • Prelims result will be out, check and proceed for Mains
  • Download the call letter for Main Examination once it is published
  • SBI Clerk Exam (Mains) will be conducted
  • Check out Mains result once it is out

Application fees

Application fees are based on category, and its purely online payment and non-refundable.

For general candidates and others: Rs. 750/- ( including intimation charges ).

For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 125/-( intimation charges only).

How much you will get as salary?

Of course every one of us search for government job is as a form of job security, fixed salary, pension benefits etc., here we will give you an overview o how SBI will pay you, if you became a J.A. The starting Basic Pay is `13075.00 (`11765.00 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates.

Pay scale : 11765-655/3-13730-815/3-16175-980/4-20095-1145/7-28110- 2120/1- 30230-1310/1-31450. 

How you will be analysed in Examination?

In order to crack any examination, we have crossed the preliminary examination which is, of course, an elimination process, here you will be able to see the pattern for this elimination process :

English Language   – 30 questions  30 marks  20 minutes

Numerical Ability   – 35 questions 35 marks 20 minutes

Reasoning               – 35 questions 35 marks 20 minutes

Total questions: 100

Total marks: 100

Duration: 60 minutes

Three categories are there from which questions will be asked, for a total of 100 marks. Test duration of 60 minutes will be provided, and it will be a CBT (computer-based test). Preliminary and mains will be conducted with the same pattern. According to SBI’s official notification released “No minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects are prescribed”. i.e., there will not be any section wise cut off SBI Junior Associates Recruitment Examination. However, the final decision will be at its discretion.  

SBI Clerk Pre-Exam Training

Here, if you belong to any of this category of SC/ST/XS/ Religious Minority Community SBI may arrange pre-examination training at certain centres for candidates within the guidelines issued by Government of India. Candidates belonging to the above categories who desire to avail themselves of such training at their own cost may indicate to that effect against relevant column while filling your online application itself.
