SBI P.O. is certainly a designation which every candidate may aspire for who wishes to get a secure job position in banks. Well, here we will help you to know how to become a SBI Probationary officer, what are the particulars to be followed to grab this etc are clearly and briefly stated in this blog. How to become a SBI Probationary officer?

SBI is conducting their recruitment separate from IBPS, for different cadres in its different branches across the country. We can see that the growth in this field is rapid, we can move to Scale II officer, the next level within 3-5 years of our service. The POs are required to give few departmental level written examination and pass an interview in order to get promotions to higher designations as well. Once you entered into this PO post, you can easily switch to the position of Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager etc. that is why it is said that the growth in this field is steady and speedy.

 

  • How the job nature will be?

 

A PO or a Probationary Officer is basically an Assistant Manager of Scale 1.i.e., Junior Manager of Grade I scale. Once the selection procedure completed, a Probationary Officer is supposed to under go a training programme at Institute of Banking Management which is intensive in nature. Probationary period for a probationary officer differs for bank still generally it is up to 02 years. 

P.O. is a client or customer centric designation, and they are supposed to work at multiple departments, so they must be enthusiastic, approachable  as well as responsible in order to take up issues related to customer complaints, clarifications on undue charges, some kind of discrepancies existing in bank accounts etc. They will be trained properly in order to face all responsibilities assigned to them at the time of training itself.

 

  • What are the criteria?

 

Let’s see the criteria:

  1.  Educational Qualifications: Candidate must hold a valid degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  2. Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years.
  • The candidates belonging to SC and ST.- age relaxation of 5 years
  • The candidates belonging to OBC categories – age relaxation of 3 years. 
  • The ex-servicemen   `- age relaxation of 5 years.
  • Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir – age relaxation of 5 years.

 

  • How the process are ?

 

What makes PO process different from junior associate is that , POs selection process is 3-tier process while J.A. is 2-tier.

  • SBI PO Notification will be out
  • Start filling details on SBI PO Online Application in its official website
  • Remitting of fees and download and keep the print out for further reference
  • Download the call letter for Preliminary Examination once it is published
  • SBI PO Exam (Preliminary) exam will be held
  • Prelims result will be out, check and proceed for Mains
  • Download the call letter for Main Examination once it is published
  • SBI PO Exam (Mains) will be held
  • Check out Mains result once it is out
  • Now, the last tier is the interview and document verification process.
  • Final merit list will be published

 

 

  • Application fees: 

 

Application fees is based on category, and its purely online payment and non-refundable.

For general candidates and others : Rs. 750/- ( including intimation charges ).

For SC/ST/PWD : Rs. 125/-( intimation charges only).

 

  • How much you will get as salary?

 

Of course every one of us who searches for government job is as a form of job security, fixed salary, pension benefits etc. As aforesaid, PO is one among the prestigious post in PSU banks. ., here we will give you an overview of how SBI will pay you, if you became a P.O..

Basic pay of a SBI PO : Rs. 23,700 , plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), CCA, special allowance etc. In total around Rs. 40,239 /month.

 

  • How you will be analysed in Examination?

In order to crack any examination we have cross the preliminary examination which is of course an elimination process ,here yo will be able to see the pattern for this elimination process :

English Language   – 30 questions  30marks   20 minutes

Numerical Ability   – 35questions  35marks  20 minutes

Reasoning               – 35questions  35marks  20 minutes

Total       100 question  100 marks  60 minutes

Three categories are there from which questions will be asked, for a total of 100 marks. A test duration of 60 minutes will be provided, and it will be a CBT (computer based test). Preliminary and mains will be conducted with same pattern. According SBIs official notification released “No minimum qualifying marks for individual subjects are prescribed”. i.e., there will not be any section wise cut off SBI PO Recruitment Examination. However, the final decision will be at its discretion.

And the pattern for mains is :

  1. Objective test for 200 marks with a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answers.

Reasoning & Computer Aptitude  45  questions  60 marks  60 minutes

Data Analysis & Interpretation  35 questions  60 marks  45 minutes

General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness  40 questions  40 marks  35 minutes

English Language 35 questions 40 marks 40 minutes

Total 155 questions 200 marks 3 hours

  1. Descriptive test : 

It is 30 min. test for 50 marks in which two questions will be asked from English language , a letter and an essay.

In interview process it is also called as GD-PI , i.e., Group Discussion-Personal Interview session

  • How to prepare?

As already discussed, SBI PO preparation must be done in a systematic manner, with latest exam pattern in mind; candidate must be very dedicative in order to grab this. It is very vast syllabus to cover so you must prepare accordingly with a time management and right study materials. You are advised to read the notification and have a good understanding of syllabus, which are the major prior steps for success, as there may be changes in pattern, addition or deletion of syllabus portions etc.
