ISRO ISTRAC 2026 – EWS Eligibility Criteria (Detailed)
To qualify as EWS, a candidate’s family must:
- Not be covered under the SC/ST/OBC reservation scheme
- Have a gross annual family income below ₹8 lakh (for the financial year prior to the year of application, from all sources — salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc.)
A candidate is EXCLUDED from EWS status (regardless of income) if the family owns/possesses:
- 5 acres of agricultural land or more
- Residential flat of 1,000 sq. ft. or more
- Residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities
- Residential plot of 200 sq. yards or more in areas other than notified municipalities
Note: Property/land held by a “family” across different locations or cities is clubbed together when applying this test.
Definition of “Family” for EWS purposes: the candidate, their parents, siblings below 18 years of age, spouse, and children below 18 years of age.
EWS candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate for the year 2025-26, valid for financial year 2026-27, issued in the prescribed format (Annexure-A of the notification) by a Competent Authority such as a District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Presidency Magistrate, Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, or Sub-Divisional Officer.

ISRO ISTRAC 2026 – Higher Qualification / Additional Experience Clause
If a candidate has qualifications or experience higher than the prescribed minimum, they may still be called for the Written Test/CBT/Skill Test for the post applied — but the higher qualification/experience will NOT give them any advantage over other adequately qualified candidates. Selected candidates will only be offered the advertised grade/post, regardless of their higher qualifications.

ISRO ISTRAC 2026 – Disqualification Clause Related to Eligibility
If a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria as on the last date of application, their candidature can be cancelled at ANY stage — before the Written Test/CBT, during the Written Test/CBT/Skill Test, or even after, if a discrepancy is noticed during scrutiny. This makes it critical to verify your eligibility thoroughly before applying, since a rejection can happen even after you’ve cleared an exam.
This eligibility breakdown is based on the official ISRO ISTRAC Advertisement No. ISTRAC:02:2026 dated 27.06.2026. Candidates are strongly advised to read the complete official notification (attached above) carefully and verify their eligibility on the official websites www.isro.gov.in and www.istrac.gov.in before applying. In case of any doubt or ambiguity, the responsibility to ensure fulfillment of eligibility criteria rests solely with the applicant.
