Most candidates don’t fail the Kerala PSC 10th level exam for lack of effort. They fail because they study the wrong things, too many things, or the right things at the wrong stage. This guide lists exactly what materials you need at each stage, from the day you create your profile to document verification and the rank list. It covers LDC, Office Attendant, LGS, Village Field Assistant and every other SSLC-level post. Download Kerala PSC 10th Level Study Materials 2027 below!

Before the Notification
Materials
- Official syllabus PDF from keralapsc.gov.in. The official syllabus PDF is available on the PSC website. This is your master checklist, so print it.
- Thulasi profile with accurate details, photo and signature.
- Document kit (scanned and original): SSLC certificate, community certificate, age relaxation and special-category certificates, if any.
- Study calendar mapped backwards from the expected exam month.
The syllabus tells you what to skip. Without it, you will waste weeks on topics the paper never asks.
Stage 1: Application and Confirmation
Materials
- The official notification PDF for each post (category number, qualification, age, last date).
- A tracker (notebook or phone note) listing every category number you applied for, application dates and the confirmation deadline.
- Your User ID and password, saved safely.
Candidates had to confirm through Thulasi before the deadline for the 2026 prelims. A missed confirmation means no hall ticket. See our selection process guide for the full steps.
Stage 2: 10th Prelims Preparation
What the paper tests
According to one prep source, the prelims carries 60 marks for General Knowledge, Current Affairs and Renaissance in Kerala, 10 for Natural Science, 10 for Physical Science, 10 for Simple Arithmetic and 10 for Mental Ability and Observational Skills. The paper is 100 objective questions in 1 hour 15 minutes. Check the official syllabus to confirm the split.
Subject-wise study materials
| Subject | Marks (approx.) | Materials to use |
|---|---|---|
| Kerala renaissance and history | Part of the 60-mark GK block | SCERT Kerala textbooks (social science, classes 5 to 10), renaissance notes, PSC-style fact sheets |
| General knowledge (India and world) | Part of GK block | School social science textbooks, a standard GK compilation, atlas for maps |
| Current affairs | Part of GK block | Daily newspaper, monthly current affairs PDF, a weekly employment/PSC magazine |
| Natural science | 10 | SCERT biology and general science textbooks (classes 5 to 10) |
| Physical science | 10 | SCERT physics and chemistry textbooks |
| Simple arithmetic | 10 | Class 8 to 10 maths basics, shortcut sheets, topic-wise practice sets |
| Mental ability | 10 | Series, coding-decoding, relations and direction practice books or sheets |
Kerala PSC questions in science, history and geography often come from the state school textbooks, so SCERT books are the safest base. Use them before guidebooks.
The 6 essential prelims materials
- SCERT textbooks (classes 5 to 10). Read them like a story first, then make notes.
- Your own short notes. One notebook per subject, with key facts only.
- Previous year question papers. Solve at least the last 3 to 4 years. See our previous question papers hub. For official keys, use the Kerala PSC Answer Key page.
- Current affairs material. Cover the last 6 to 12 months before the exam.
- Mock tests. Timed, 100-question tests with negative marking.
- OMR practice sheets. Practise bubbling accurately and fast.
Negative marking reminder
The prelims awards +1 for a correct answer and deducts 0.33 for a wrong one, with no penalty for unanswered questions. Build a habit of skipping when you truly cannot narrow the options.
Stage 3: Shortlist and Mains Preparation
After the prelims, candidates need marks above the cut-off to be shortlisted. While you wait for the result, start the next level.
Materials
- Post-specific syllabus from the notification. Mains papers are post-specific.
- Mains previous papers. One source lists mains papers as OMR/online objective tests of 100 marks in 1 hour 30 minutes, though this varies by post.
- Deeper subject notes. For LDC, the pattern includes 50 marks for General Knowledge and 20 for Current Affairs, with the rest in other sections. Strengthen the heavier sections first.
- Language material. Some posts include regional language or English sections, so use grammar and vocabulary notes.
- Revision notes. Compress your prelims notes into one-page summaries per subject.
- Full-length mains mocks that match your post’s pattern.
Stage 4: Exam Days
Materials checklist
- Printed hall ticket from Thulasi.
- Valid photo ID (as listed on the hall ticket).
- Pens and stationery exactly as instructed on the hall ticket.
- Route and timing plan. Visit the centre location in advance.
- Light snack and water, if allowed.
Do not carry anything the hall ticket prohibits, such as phones, calculators or notes.
After the exam, check the provisional answer key on the PSC website and compare your answers. Our previous question paper hub explains where to find it.
Stage 5: Document Verification
Materials
Candidates must produce original certificates for age proof, SSLC or equivalent qualification, community certificate and age relaxation (if eligible).
| Document | Keep ready |
|---|---|
| SSLC certificate | Original + photocopies |
| Community certificate | Original + photocopies |
| Age relaxation or special category proofs | Originals |
| Experience/service certificates (if required) | Originals |
| Hall ticket and profile printout | Printed copies |
| Passport-size photographs | A few spares |
Prepare these before the rank list, since processes can move quickly.
Stage 6: Rank List, Advice and Special Tests
Materials
- Rank tracker. Note your rank, category and district. Advice is issued rank-wise, category-wise and district-wise, based on reported vacancies.
- Thulasi alerts. Check your profile for advice updates.
- Skill or physical test material if your post needs it: typing practice for typist posts, or fitness practice for uniformed posts such as Fireman.
- Joining checklist. Keep appointment order requirements ready, such as medical fitness and character certificates, as listed in your advice memo.
