Kerala PSC LSGD Draftsman Grade 2 Detailed Eligibility Criteria 2026
1: Between the period of 1858-1947, how many Viceroys ruled over India?
1. Community Eligibility
This is a Special Recruitment for SC/ST.
- Only Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe candidates of Kerala State can apply.
- Applications from other candidates will be rejected, and no individual communication will be sent.
- If the caste or community in your application is different from the one entered in your SSLC book, you must produce a Gazette Notification together with the Community Certificate at certificate verification.
2. Age Limit
| Particulars | Details |
|---|---|
| Age | 18–45 years |
| Eligible birth dates | 02.01.1981 to 01.01.2008 (both included) |
| Other age relaxation | Not allowed |
Upper age relaxation up to 50 years: If qualified candidates are not available within the age limit, the upper age limit can be relaxed up to 50 years. It can never exceed 50 years in any case.
Note that this is not a general relaxation you can claim at the time of applying. It applies only when there aren’t enough qualified candidates within 18–45. Apply within the 18–45 window if you can.
3. Educational Qualification
You need both of the following:
(I) SSLC or its equivalent, and
(II) Any one of the qualifications in the table below.
| No. | Accepted Qualification |
|---|---|
| 1 | Diploma in Civil Engineering (2-year course) of Women’s Polytechnic, or any qualification recognised by Government as equivalent |
| 2 | Group Certificate under KGTE / MGTE (must include all four groups: Building Drawing, Building Construction, Survey and Irrigation) |
| 3 | Pass in eight subjects under KGTE / MGTE (listed below) |
| 4 | National Apprenticeship Certificate (Surveyor) |
| 5 | National Apprenticeship Certificate (Civil) |
| 6 | National Trade Certificate (Surveyor) |
| 7 | National Trade Certificate (Draftsman Civil) |
| 8 | State Trade Certificate (Surveyor) |
| 9 | State Trade Certificate (Draftsman Civil) |
| 10 | Pass in VHSE Draftsmanship in Building Technology, or Quantity Surveying and Surveying |
The Eight KGTE / MGTE Subjects (Route 3)
If you take the “eight subjects” route, you need to pass all of these:
- Surveying and Levelling (Higher)
- Applied Mechanics (Higher)
- Building Materials and Construction (Higher/Lower)
- Hydraulics and Irrigation (Higher)
- Building Drawing and Estimating (Higher)
- Earthwork and Road Making (Higher)
- Geometrical Drawing (Lower)
- Mensuration (Lower)
Group Certificate Note (Route 2)
A KGTE/MGTE Group Certificate counts only if it covers all four groups: Building Drawing, Building Construction, Survey and Irrigation. A certificate in only some groups doesn’t meet this route.
4. Equivalent and Higher Qualifications
The notification says Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II of KS & SSR is applicable. In practice:
- Equivalent qualifications: A qualification recognised by Executive Orders or Standing Orders of Government as equivalent to a prescribed qualification is acceptable. So is one the Commission finds acceptable where the rules provide for equivalents.
- Higher qualifications: Qualifications that presuppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post are also sufficient.
- Proof: Keep a copy of the Government Order declaring the qualification equivalent or higher. The Commission can ask for it at any time.
- Degrees and diplomas from UGC-approved universities, or from institutions established through an Act of Parliament or the State Legislative Assembly, are acceptable for Government service under the conditions in G.O.(M.S) No. 526/PD dated 17.07.1965.
If your qualification isn’t named in the list, check whether a Government Order recognises it as equivalent before you apply.
5. Other Conditions That Affect Your Eligibility
- Single profile: You must not create multiple profiles. Doing so can lead to forfeiture of candidature.
- Genuine claims: Bogus claims about education, experience or community can lead to disqualification, debarment, or criminal proceedings under Rule 22 of the Kerala PSC Rules of Procedure.
- Original documents: You must produce original documents proving qualification, age and community when called for.
- General Conditions: Read Part II of the General Conditions before applying. Applications that don’t comply may be rejected.
- Probation: Appointees serve 2 years of probation on duty within a continuous period of 3 years.

Join NowQuick Self-Check: Am I Eligible?

- Was I born between 02.01.1981 and 01.01.2008?
- Have I passed SSLC or equivalent?
- Do I hold at least one of the technical qualifications in the table, or a Government-recognised equivalent?
- Can I show my certificates in original if asked?
- Does my SSLC book show the same community as my application? If not, do I have a Gazette Notification and Community Certificate?
If all six are yes, you can apply before 04.11.2026 (Wednesday), up to 12 midnight.
Eligibility vs Application: What Happens Next
Meeting the criteria lets you apply, but the Commission checks everything at later stages. If a test is held, you must confirm through your OTR profile to get an Admission Ticket, and if you are asked to upload documents, you must do so within the stipulated time. Missing either can end your candidature even if you are eligible.
