The Chairmanship is the highest designation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).The Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR)  found in 1962 with Vikram Sarabhai as its first chairperson. The ISRO is INOSPAR in its modern form which was made by Vikram Sarabhai in 1969. Prof. Satish Dhawan served the longest term of 12 years as the Chairman of ISRO, in memory of him ISRO has renamed Sriharikota Range, Sriharikota as  Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), in 2002.

2. M. G. K. Menon   (January 1972 – September 1972)
3. Satish Dhawan   (1972 – 1984)
4. U. R. Rao     ( 1984 – 1994 )
5. K. Kasturirangan   (1994 – August 27, 2003)
6. G. Madhavan Nair  (September 2003 – October 29, 2009)
7. K. Radhakrishnan   (October 30, 2009 – December 31,  2014)
8. Shailesh Nayak    (January 01, 2015 – January 12, 2015)
9. A. S. Kiran Kumar (January 14, 2015 – January 14, 2018)
10. K. Sivan   ( January 15, 2018 – Incumbent)

Madhavan Nair is the sixth chairman of ISRO who was the master brain behind India’s first ever successful  moon mission CHANDRAYAN 1 , and he have 27 accomplishments in his account during the tenure. And the current chairman K. Sivan is the navigator for India’s Second moon mission CHANDRAYAN 2.
