According to the official notification, the online application window is open from 15 October 2026 to 13 November 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates who have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and are aged 18–30 years as on 01.01.2027 can apply through the official RRB website. The 50% condition is relaxed for SC/ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates and for those with higher qualifications. The official notification PDF covers vacancies, eligibility, application fee, the apply online process, exam pattern, selection process and salary, all explained below.
What’s New in RRB NTPC UG CEN 07/2026 (vs CEN 07/2025)
1. The typing skill test has been removed
1: The electron was discovered by________.
- 2025: The 2025 notification included a Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) and had a separate certificate for PwBD candidates seeking exemption from the typing test.
- 2026: The typing test is gone for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist. Selection is now CBT 1, then CBT 2, then DV and Medical. Typing skill will instead be checked after joining, and poor performance can delay confirmation or promotion.
2. Fewer vacancies, and a different mix of posts
Total vacancies have almost halved. The share of typist and Trains Clerk posts has grown sharply, while Ticket Clerk posts have fallen.
| Post | CEN 07/2025 | CEN 07/2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commercial cum Ticket Clerk | 2,424 | 700 | ⬇ 71% |
| Accounts Clerk cum Typist | 394 | 200 | ⬇ 49% |
| Junior Clerk cum Typist | 163 | 600 | ⬆ 3.7x |
| Trains Clerk | 77 | 188 | ⬆ 2.4x |
| Total | 3,058 | 1,688 | ⬇ 45% |
3. One official website for all RRBs
- 2025: The notification and application link were hosted on the separate official websites of each RRB.
- 2026: Everything is on one site, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, with links from there to each RRB’s page.
4. Changes to who can apply (nationality)
- 2025: The 2025 list included Tibetan refugees who arrived before 01.01.1962 among eligible candidates.
- 2026: That category has been dropped from the nationality list.
5. Changes for PwBD candidates
- New disability certificate formats: These follow the RPwD (Amendment) Rules, 2024, so only Form V (single disability) and Form VI (multiple disabilities) are used. The 2025 notification also used a separate Form VII for other cases.
- Temporary disabilities excluded: Under the DEPwD OM dated 17.12.2025, a temporary disability marked “likely to improve” no longer qualifies for reservation.
- Scribe details: These must now be submitted within the application window itself. In 2025 there was a separate window for submitting scribe details.
6. Other new provisions
- Photo mismatch fix (new Annexure VIII): If your live photo does not match your ID, you can upload a certificate signed by a Gazetted Officer.
- Stricter law on cheating: The notification now refers to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, as amended on 31.07.2026.
- Mobile number and email: The notification now states explicitly that RRBs will not accept any request to change these.
What stays the same

- Eligibility of 12th pass with 50% marks

- Medical standards for each post

Medical Standard
Trains Clerk needs A3, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk needs B2, and both typist posts need C2. If you have had LASIK or any other eye surgery to correct your vision, you are not eligible for Trains Clerk.
RRB NTPC Undergraduate Apply Date 2026
- The RRB NTPC UG online application process is scheduled to begin on 15 October 2026.
- The last date to submit the RRB NTPC UG application is 13 November 2026 at 11:59 PM.
How to Apply Online for RRB NTPC UG (CEN No. 07/2026)
Step 1: Keep these ready
- Your own active mobile number and email ID. You cannot change these later.
- Your Aadhaar card, or access to DigiLocker.
- A scanned signature with these specifications:
- Black ink on white paper
- Joined-up handwriting, not capital or block letters
- JPG/JPEG format, between 30 and 49 KB
- At least 140 × 60 pixels, scanned at 100 DPI or more
- An SC/ST certificate as a PDF under 400 KB. You only need this if you want the free train travel pass.
- Category certificate details: certificate number, date of issue and issuing authority.
- OBC-NCL certificates must be issued between 01.04.2026 and 13.11.2026.
- EWS candidates need an Income & Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26.
- For the EBC fee concession: an EBC certificate, BPL card or Izzat MST issued on or before 13.11.2026.
- A bank account linked to your Aadhaar, which is where your fee refund will be sent.
Step 2: Create an account
- Go to the official website, https://rrb.indianrailways.gov.in, and click the CEN 07/2026 apply link.
- If you already created an account for an earlier RRB notification (2024, 2025 or 2026), log in with the same details.
- If you are new, click Create an Account.
- Enter your name, father’s name, mother’s name and date of birth exactly as they appear on your 10th certificate.
- Verify your mobile number and email using the OTPs sent to them.
- Verify your identity with Aadhaar or DigiLocker. This is strongly recommended, because candidates who use other photo IDs face stricter checks at every stage.
⚠️ Nothing in the “Create an Account” form can be changed later, so check every detail before you submit it.
Step 3: Fill in the application form
- Choose only ONE RRB. You cannot change this choice later. Applying more than once, to the same or different RRBs, gets all your applications rejected and can ban you from future exams.
- Set your preferences for zones and posts within that RRB. You will not be considered for any post you leave out.
- Pick your exam language. You can choose English, Hindi or one of 13 regional languages, including Malayalam and Tamil.
- Fill in the remaining details:
- Category, PwBD or Ex-Servicemen status, and whether you need a scribe
- Whether you want the free travel pass (SC/ST only)
- Your educational details
- Your present address. You must show proof of this address at document verification.
- Whether you allow your score to be shared with other employers
Step 4: Capture your live photo
You do not upload a photo. The form takes one live, using your webcam or phone’s front camera. Follow these rules:
- Stand against a plain white background and wear plain, dark-coloured clothes.
- Keep the camera at eye level and look straight ahead with a neutral expression.
- Do not wear a cap, mask or glasses, and keep your eyes fully open.
- Your head should fill at least 50% of the frame, and nothing below your chest should show.
- Do not photograph a printed or on-screen photo. Applications that do this are rejected.
- If the system says your photo does not match your ID, download Annexure VIII, get it signed by a Gazetted Officer, and upload it.
Step 5: Upload your documents and link your bank account
- Upload your signature, plus the SC/ST certificate if you asked for the travel pass.
- Confirm the bank account linked to your Aadhaar, which will be used for the refund.
- If no account is linked, you will be sent to the NPCI portal to link one.
- If you don’t have a bank account, you can use a family member’s Aadhaar-linked account.
Step 6: Scribe details (PwBD candidates only)
- Your scribe must first register at rrbapply.gov.in under “Scribe Registration” to get an OTR number.
- Enter your scribe’s OTR number in your application.
- Enter the OTP that is sent to your scribe’s mobile number.
Step 7: Submit and pay the fee
| Category | Fee | Refund after you attend CBT 1 |
|---|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS (male) | ₹500 | ₹400 |
| SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, EBC | ₹250 | ₹250 |
- Pay online only, by net banking, debit or credit card, or UPI, by 15.11.2026.
- Your application is accepted only after the payment goes through. You will get a confirmation by SMS and email.
Step 8: Make corrections if needed (16 to 25.11.2026)
- Each correction costs ₹250, and you can make as many as you need.
- You cannot change the “Create an Account” details or your chosen RRB.
- If you switch to a category that pays a higher fee (for example, from SC/ST to UR), you must also pay the ₹250 difference.
After you apply
- Note down your registration number and check the official website regularly.
- You will be told your exam city about 10 days before the CBT. You can download your e-call letter about 4 days before.
Need help? You can apply through any Common Service Centre (find the nearest one at findmycsc.nic.in). For application problems, contact rrb.help@csc.gov.in or call 9592001188 / 0172-5653333 (10 AM to 5 PM on working days).
RRB NTPC UG Selection Process 2026-27
RRB NTPC UG Selection has three stages, and the final list is based purely on merit.
- 1st Stage CBT, a screening test
- 2nd Stage CBT, which decides your merit
- Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME)
No typing test this time. The typing skill test for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist has been dropped for this notification. Your typing skill will instead be checked after you join, and poor performance can delay your confirmation or promotion.
Stage 1: 1st Stage CBT (common for all posts)
| Section | Questions |

| General Awareness | 40 |
| Mathematics | 30 |
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 30 |

- Duration: 90 minutes. PwBD candidates who are eligible for a scribe get 120 minutes.
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
- Nature: This stage is only for screening. Your normalised score decides whether you are shortlisted for CBT 2.
- Shortlisting for CBT 2: About 15 times the vacancies in each RRB and community are called. Railways may change this number.
Stage 2: 2nd Stage CBT
| Section | Questions |
|---|---|
| General Awareness | 50 |
| Mathematics | 35 |
| General Intelligence & Reasoning | 35 |
| Total | 120 (1 mark each) |
- Duration: 90 minutes, or 120 minutes for PwBD candidates who are eligible for a scribe.

- Use of marks: Your normalised CBT 2 marks decide whether you are called for DV.
Minimum qualifying marks (both CBTs)
| Category | Minimum % |
|---|---|
| UR / EWS | 40% |
| OBC-NCL / SC | 30% |
| ST | 25% |

- What to bring:
- All your original certificates and two sets of self-attested photocopies
- Before your DV date, upload your photo and signature at oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv
- What happens if documents are missing: No extra time is given. If you are absent or don’t produce your originals, your candidature is cancelled.
- Medical test: You must meet the medical standard for your post:
- A3 for Trains Clerk
- B2 for Commercial cum Ticket Clerk
- C2 for the two typist posts
If you are found unfit for the post you chose, you will not be offered another post. You get one chance to file a medical appeal, for a fee.
Final merit and allotment
- Tie-breaker: If two candidates have equal marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If they are the same age, they are ranked alphabetically by first name.
- Allotment: You are given a post and zone based on your merit, your preferences, your medical fitness and the vacancies available.
- Once you are empanelled, you give up your claim to any other post at the same pay level.
- Who gives the job: The RRB only recommends names. The offer of appointment comes from the zonal railway, after checking your character and antecedents.

RRB NTPC UG Preparation Strategy
Candidates can start preparing for the RRB NTPC UG examination even before the application window opens.
1. Understand the syllabus
Start by identifying the topics included in Mathematics, Reasoning and General Awareness.
2. Create a study schedule
Divide your preparation time among the different subjects and maintain a consistent daily study routine.
3. Practise previous questions
Previous-year questions help candidates understand the question style, difficulty level and recurring concepts.
4. Focus on speed and accuracy
Since competitive examinations require candidates to solve questions within a limited time, regular timed practice is important.
5. Practise mock tests
Take full-length mock tests regularly and analyse incorrect and unanswered questions.
6. Follow current affairs
General Awareness is an important part of railway and government recruitment examinations. Follow current affairs consistently rather than trying to cover everything immediately before the exam.
