Top Mistakes to Avoid in IBPS Bank Interview

Given below some top mistakes to avoid in IBPS bank interview

Telling a Lie in the Interview

You already know that the IBPS officials have invested enough time in doing a background check on your academic skills by going through your online exam. The interview is conducted purely for the purpose of testing your verbal communication skills and to assess your personality a little better. The panel is trained to catch a lie and also see-through one because of the thousands of interviews that they conduct every year.

Not Being Patient and Panicking during the Interview

As a future banking official, you will be expected to deal with all kinds of customers day in and day out. In your interview, you want to be able to showcase your ability to handle a tricky situation in a calm and composed manner. You also want to show to the panel how patient you are and how your customer relationship skills will help the bank in its immediate and long-term growth. Panicking or showing signs of impatience in an interview can work against your chances of getting hired.

Being careless in GK

Reading newspapers occasionally will not help you gain the required general knowledge, especially when news flows quickly nowadays. Since there are no preset topics for common interviews questions could range from national, international, sports, or business. To stay ahead keep track of all headlines through various news channels and note down events that are worthy of the second read.

Not knowing about yourself

Almost all aspirants attending common interviews seem to face this question – ‘Why did you choose to work in the bank’. Each person has his/her own reason to choose a career in banking. We suggest you say that real push instead of borrowing from others. What works for one may not necessarily help another.

Choosing to Dress Casually

How you look on the day of your interview is vital as it will leave a positive impression on the interview panel. Avoid dressing up informally or not giving your overall look any importance on the day of the interview. That said, even when you are dressing up formally, you want to make sure that you don’t wear anything that is brand new. It is common for people not to be comfortable in the clothes they wear for the first time. So, as a woman, if you are used to salwars and sarees, wear a formal Indian outfit and don’t force yourself in formal pants or skirts just because you think it will make a better impression. Make sure you wear something elegant and not anything one would see being worn at a party.

Not Preparing for Banking Related Questions

The IBPS panel tends to be most impressed by candidates who make the effort of being aware of the latest news and happenings in the Indian Banking Sector. Make sure you read the news, industry journals, and other important publications on a regular basis to prepare yourself for all banking-related questions that come your way.

Finally, always wear a smile no matter how nervous you are at the time of the interview. A smile of confidence can sometimes alone win the panel and improve your chances of being hired by the IBPS. We hope that this article; “Top Mistakes to Avoid in IBPS Bank Interview” has helped you to get some tips on your Interview preparation. All the best!!
