Epidemic v/s Pandemic
An epidemic is the rapid spread of disease to a large number of people in a given population within a short period of time. Certain epidemics occur in certain seasons. Unlike the epidemic, a pandemic is more dangerous because the pandemic is a disease epidemic that has spread across a large region, for instance, multiple continents, or even worldwide. The deadly virus Ebola (EVD) which originated in African countries is one example of this. This was first discovered in 1976 in remote villages of Central Africa, near tropical rainforests. But, an outbreak that occurred in 2014 and lasted till 2016 was the largest and most complex Ebola outbreak ever seen. It also spread between countries, starting from the Western African countries then moving across land borders. More than 11,000 lives were lost due to this worldwide pandemic.
Why is Coronavirus Outbreak called a Pandemic?
1: Who was the first woman President of India?
As we all know the origin of coronavirus is from Wuhan, a city in China. Initially, it was just a disease that later became a massive outbreak. The number of infections appearing each day has drastically increased in China, started to spread to other countries and it is now a global pandemic. Large outbreaks reported in South Korea, Iran, Italy and elsewhere show that our control over the Coronavirus is lost. As a result of this rapidly spreading, we have lost more than 16,000 lives within 2 months. We really need everyone to understand this vulnerable and serious situation, to put forward the effective measurements.
Be aware, Be safe
While we may feel powerless over this threat, we are not. There are important things we can and we must do. The coronavirus only has to be right once to infect us. We have to be right every time to prevent it.
So, every time you cough or sneeze, use a tissue or handkerchief. Every time you think of it, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds as frequently as you can. You can practice social distancing, stay away from others during this outbreak. Social distancing is now being encouraged throughout our society. Schools are closed, sports events of every kind are being cancelled. The curtain has even come down on our borders in countries, even in districts too. Many countries have implemented Lock-down for the safety of the public. Apart from that curfew was also established to wipe away this pandemic. Home quarantine, self-isolation are the best things which we can put forward for saving us from this situation. We want to motivate ourselves from this issue to become more powerful.
In this case, do as little as we can. No need to panic, we need to be alert and watchful against this crisis. Stay at home safely and happily.
