The BPCL selection process for Non-Management posts (Process Technician, Process Operator/Operator, Technician) comprises three stages. Here is every detail from the official notification:

STAGE 1 – Computer Based Test (CBT)

This is the primary screening stage and carries the highest weightage in the BPCL selection process.

1. The CBT for a post may be conducted in one, two, or three sessions in a single day, depending on the number of candidates.
2. Candidates will be asked to indicate their preferred Test City in the online application. However, these preferences are indicative only and do not guarantee allotment of the same test city. BPCL reserves the right to allot any test centre based on administrative exigencies and availability of infrastructure.
3. The date and city/centre of CBT will be communicated via Call Letter (sent over email), approximately 10 days prior to the scheduled CBT date.
4. Candidates must visit the BPCL Careers website to download the call letter using their Registration Number and Password.
5. Candidates must affix a recent recognizable photograph on the call letter (same as provided during registration) and carry it to the exam centre.
6. Candidates must bring to the exam centre:
   • The Call Letter (with photo affixed)
   • A currently valid Photo Identity Proof bearing exactly the same name as on the call letter — acceptable proofs include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Passport, Permanent Driving Licence, Bank Passbook with photograph, Photo ID issued by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead, Photo ID issued by a People’s Representative on official letterhead, valid College/University ID, E-Aadhaar Card with photograph, or Employee ID

STAGE 2 – Skill/Proficiency Test (SPT)

Only candidates who qualify in the CBT as per the cut-off marks decided by the Corporation will be called for SPT.

1. SPT is conducted at the respective refinery locations (Mumbai Refinery for Post Code A; Kochi Refinery for Post Codes B, C, D).
2. SPT is of a “qualifying nature” only — meaning it does not carry marks that add to a merit list; a candidate either qualifies or does not.
3. Only candidates who qualify the SPT will be reckoned for selection.
4. Selected candidates must meet all notified eligibility conditions, and final selection is subject to document/certificate verification at this stage.

Documents required at SPT (based on notification requirements):

• Original SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS certificates (as applicable), in the prescribed proforma
• OBC (NCL) candidates must submit a self-undertaking at the time of SPT, in terms of DOPT memo No. 36012/22/93-Extt.(SCT) dated 08.09.1993, confirming they belong to the Non-Creamy Layer
• PwBD candidates must submit a disability certificate issued by a Competent Authority as prescribed under the RPwBD Act, 2016
• EWS candidates must submit the original Income and Asset Certificate, valid for financial year 2025-26 (based on income/asset verification for FY 2024-25). The certificate must clearly mention the caste name (not just “General/Samanya”), and must have the applicant’s photo pasted, signed, and stamped by the issuing authority. No extension of time will be given for producing this certificate — failure to produce it at SPT means the candidate will not be allowed to appear for SPT
• If any category certificate (SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD/EWS) is issued in a language other than English/Hindi, a self-certified translated copy in English or Hindi must be submitted
• Candidates already employed in Govt/Govt Departments/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must submit a “No Objection Certificate” at the time of SPT (if shortlisted)

STAGE 3 – Pre-Employment Medical Examination
