CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru has released the CSIR CFTRI Technician Recruitment 2026 notification under Advertisement No. Rec.02/2026. Candidates with 10th (Science) and ITI, apprenticeship or work experience in the relevant trade can apply for 28 Technician (1) posts. Online applications opened on 19 October 2026 and close on 18 November 2026.

CFTRI is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. CFTRI Technician Recruitment 2026 – Important Dates

After 11:59 PM on 18 November, the application link is disabled. The application print-out and payment details will not be available after this time. So take the print-out before the deadline.

CFTRI Technician Vacancy 2026 – Post-wise Details

There are 13 trades, with post codes TE01 to TE13.

Category-wise vacancy: UR-9, EWS-5, SC-4, ST-1, OBC(NCL)-9.

Of the 28 posts, two are reserved for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and two for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), under categories “b” (Deaf & Hard of Hearing) and “c” (Locomotor Disability). The number of vacancies is provisional and may decrease at the time of selection.

CFTRI Technician Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

The qualification is the same for every trade. A candidate needs SSC / 10th Standard with Science subjects, with minimum 55% marks, plus any one of the following in the relevant trade:

1. ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the trade, or
2. 2 years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognised institution in the trade, or
3. 3 years of work experience in the trade in a Ministry, Department, Organisation, PSU or Autonomous Body under the Government of India / State / UT.

The trade must match the post code you apply for. For example, a Fitter ITI holder can apply for TE01, and a COPA ITI holder for TE05.

Age Limit

The age limit is 18 to 28 years as on 18 November 2026. Relaxations are given only where the post is reserved for that category:

Important: SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against Unreserved (UR) posts will not get age relaxation. They are treated on par with general candidates.

Other Conditions

• The applicant must be a citizen of India.
• Experience counts only if it is full-time and was gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification. Part-time, daily wage and guest faculty experience is not counted.
• Candidates working in government or PSU organisations must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
• Name, date of birth and parents’ names must match the 10th certificate exactly.

CFTRI Technician Selection Process 2026

1. Screening: A Screening Committee scrutinises all applications. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for the Trade Test, because the committee adopts its own shortlisting criteria.
2. Trade Test: Held in the relevant trade. It is qualifying in nature.
3. Written Examination: Candidates who qualify the Trade Test take a competitive written exam with three papers.

The final merit list is prepared only on marks in Paper-II and Paper-III. Paper-I is qualifying.

CFTRI Technician Exam Pattern 2026

The Mental Ability Test covers general intelligence, quantitative aptitude, reasoning, problem solving and situational judgement. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I. The cut-off for the Trade Test and Paper-I will be published on the CFTRI website before the test.

1. Higher marks in the concerned subject/trade papers
2. Fewer negative marks in the concerned subject papers
3. Fewer negative marks in the papers considered for merit
4. Older date of birth
5. Earlier acquisition of the essential qualification
6. Alphabetical order of first names

How to Apply for CFTRI Technician Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee & Documents Details

1. Visit recruitment.cftri.res.in or www.cftri.res.in (Google Chrome preferred).
2. Click Apply Online and register with your name, email and mobile number. You will receive a User ID and password.
3. Log in and complete your profile (gender, date of birth, category, PwBD, ex-servicemen and government employee status). Once the profile is locked it cannot be changed.
4. Fill in the 7 tabs: Apply, Personal Details, Education, Experience (if applicable), Additional Details, Uploads, and Preview & Submit.
5. Upload photograph, signature, live photo and documents as per the specifications below.
6. Submit the form to generate the Application No.
7. Pay the ₹500 fee through SBI Collect (if applicable) and upload the e-receipt before 11:59 PM on 18 November 2026.
8. Download and print the filled application.
9. Sign it, attach self-attested documents and a passport photo, and send it by Speed Post / Registered Post so that it reaches CFTRI on or before 26 November 2026.

• ₹500 (non-refundable), paid through SBI Collect.
• Exempted: SC, ST, PwBD, Women and Ex-Servicemen candidates, subject to uploading the relevant document.
• Applications without the prescribed fee, from non-exempted categories, will be rejected.

Important Points to Remember

• EWS candidates need an Income & Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026-27, based on family income for 2025-26.
• OBC candidates need a Central Government format certificate. The creamy layer is not eligible for the concession.
• A candidate can apply for multiple post codes, but each needs a separate application, fee and set of documents.
• If a candidate submits several applications for one post code, only the latest completed one is considered.
• Fees are not refunded, and submitted applications cannot be withdrawn.
• Selected candidates can be posted at Mysuru, or at the resource centres in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Lucknow, and transferred to any CSIR lab in India.
• No separate call letters will be mailed. Admit cards and all updates appear only on the CFTRI website, so check it regularly.
• The last date will not be extended for server or technical issues, so apply early.

CFTRI Technician Salary 2026

The post is in Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200). The approximate total emoluments are ₹37,260 per month at the minimum of the scale, including HRA at Mysuru. Other benefits for selected candidates:
