IBPS PO VS IBPS RRB PO: Eligibility Criteria
Recruitment for IBPS PO and IBPS RRB PO 2020 will be conducted through a Common Written Examination. While IBPS PO examination is scheduled to be conducted in 3 phases, the examination for IBPS RRB PO will be held in 2 phases.
For IBPS PO, the candidate should at least have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% in any discipline from a recognized university.
For IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university is must. Preference will be given to candidates having a background in Horticulture, Forestry, Agriculture, Economics, Management, Law, Economics, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation.
Job Profile
IBPS PO is held to fill vacancies of Probationary Officers (PO) in nationalized banks. IBPS PO offers all-India posting, which means you will be posted at a bank located in one of your preferred locations. The career prospects in this sector are much better since there are frequent promotional opportunities.
In case of IBPS RRB PO, candidates are posted in rural regions. The objective is to promote banking awareness and facilitate banking services in remote areas. The nature of work in RRB PO is confined to agricultural finance, handicrafts and small sector loans.

There will be 1/4th negative marking for each wrong answer.
Those who qualify through the IBPS PO objective round will qualify for the IBPS mains written examination (descriptive in nature).
IBPS PO Main Descriptive
The descriptive paper tests your English language proficiency in Essay writing and Letter writing. The duration of the paper is 30 minutes. The passing mark will be decided by the bank.
IBPS PO Interview
This is the final round of selection procedure for IBPS PO. A total of 100 marks are allotted for the Personal Interview round. For General candidates, the minimum qualifying percentage is 40%, while for others (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) it is 35%.
IBPS RRB PO Prelims (Phase-I)
Duration: 45 minutes; no sectional timing.

Salary Structure
The Pay scale for IBPS PO is Rs.23, 700. It amounts to a gross salary of Rs.38, 703 including House Rent Allowance.
The Pay scale for IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I is 14500-600/7-18700-700/2-20100-800/7-25700. The in-hand salary at present varies from Rs.29, 000-33,000 at 100% D.A.
