Every year Kerala PSC invites applications from candidates towards Kerala PSC Seaman positions. Kerala PSC Seaman recruitment is a district wise recruitment and selected candidates will get appointed in the Port Department of Kerala Government Services. The seaman will have to perform general maintenance, repair, sanitation and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas in the port department. Candidates must make sure that they have relevant experience in the field before filling the application. PSC will conduct a practical test before selecting the candidates. Before appearing for the practical test every applicant of Kerala PSC Seaman 2020 must submit a declaration form to the commission.
In the said form candidates should declare about their experience in Boat Pulling, Knots & Splices and rigging, Handling single Cylinder Motor Boats, Anchor Work and Swimming, etc. The candidates will also be entrusted with jobs like the maintenance of the boat metal structures by chipping, scraping, cleaning, priming, and painting. Clean, maintain and repair the hull, decks, superstructure, cargo gear, and smokestack. The commission won’t take any responsibility if you ended up in any sort of accidents during the test. So make sure that you have enough experience before appearing for the practice round. PSC will not consider the applications of those who failed to upload the declaration form in the below-given format.

Kerala PSC Seaman Recruitment 2020
In December 2019, the Kerala PSC had invited applications from qualified candidates to fill the Seaman post in the Hydrographic Survey Wing (Port Department). Candidates below 36 years and passed class VIII were eligible for this post. Let’s look at the important details of the PSC Seaman 2020 recruitment.

- The scale of Pay: Rs. 17500/ – Rs. 39500/
- Online Application Period: December 16, 2019- January 2020
Education Qualification
- Candidates should have passed at least Class VIII.
- Must have proficiency in Boat pulling, knots and Splices and rigging, handling single-cylinder motorboat, anchor work, and swimming.
Physical Standard
- Height- Not less than 165 cms.
- Weight- Not less than 50kgs.
- Chest- Not less than 80cms, normal and not less than 85cms on expansion.
Kerala PSC Seaman Self Declaration Certificate
Candidates who have applied towards Kerala PSC Seaman recruitment would have received a message from Kerala PSC requesting them to upload the Self Declaration Form. Once you received the message, aspirants should download the below-given format and fill your District name and Category number (according to your application) and sign the document and upload it to your PSC application portal. The Self Declaration form should be in a resolution of 500*500 with size less than 100 kb. Make sure to upload the declaration form within the given window.
