No. The cut off does not change between the four exam categories (Lower Primary, Upper Primary, High School and Language/Specialist teachers). It depends only on your candidate category: General, SC/ST/OBC/OEC or PwD. A General candidate needs 90/150 whether they wrote Category I or Category III.
Does the KTET Cut Off Change Every Year?
KTET is a qualifying exam, not a ranking exam. There is no merit list and no rank card. Pareeksha Bhavan fixes the qualifying percentage, and it does not rise or fall with how many candidates appear or how tough the paper is.

What does change is the pass percentage. A tougher paper means fewer candidates reach 90, but the target stays the same. So there is no point waiting for an “expected cut off”. Prepare to comfortably clear 90 (General) or 82 (reserved).

Since each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking, correct answers equal your marks.

Cut Off vs Recruitment: Don’t Confuse the Two
The KTET cut off only decides whether you are eligible. It does not decide whether you get a job.
- KTET cut off: minimum marks to earn the eligibility certificate.
- Recruitment: teaching posts in Kerala government and aided schools are filled through separate selection (such as Kerala PSC). Having KTET makes you eligible to apply, but selection follows its own process.
A higher KTET score does not add to your recruitment rank. Once you have the certificate, it is valid for life.
