Exam Tips
Follow the same order of sections for a test you are going to take in real life: Take your time with easy, less complicated questions that can get answered within 60-75 seconds. Return if necessary. Consider leaving difficult or long problems that cannot be solved within this amount of time unanswered but come back to them if they’re relevant later on in the exam. Stay focused and do not spread yourself too thin; choose 1 problem out of 10 at random from the data set and spend 5 minutes (or up to 15%) thinking about how best to solve it. Set cutoffs when doing different types of problems- so use 30-second timers when solving lengthier problems.
Be careful when taking an educated guess because if you don’t know the answer, it will be marked down negatively. Be judicious when deciding whether or not to mark an option if you’re unsure of the correct answer. There are negatives points for wrong answers so it is best if you can eliminate two or three wrong choices before guessing which one could be right.
