JEE Main 2020 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2020 Exam will be consists of 3 papers this year- B.E/ B. Tech, B. Arch, B. Planning. National Testing Agency or NTA has released the official JEE Main 2020 Syllabus for all the 3 papers. The first session of JEE Main 2020 which was conducted in the month of January from January 6 to 9, 2020 was successful. The second session of JEE Main 2020 which was scheduled in April from April 5 to 11, 2020 is postponed to May last week. In this article, we shall discuss JEE Main 2020 Syllabus and Exam Pattern.

Syllabus for JEE Main Paper 1 will cover Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Syllabus for JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 covers Aptitude, Drawing, and Mathematics. While that for Paper 3 will be consists of Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning-based questions.

JEE Main 2020 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

• The national level examination will be conducted in online mode only.
• Candidates can opt to appear in one or all the 3 the papers of JEE Main 2020.
• The exam will be conducted for 3 hours.
• 1-hour extra time will be given to candidates with a 40% disability.
• If you wish to opt for both B. Arch and B. Planning, then the examination will be of 3 hours 30 minutes duration.

JEE Main 2020 Syllabus

The Syllabus for JEE Main 2020 will still be based mainly on the topics covered in Class 11 and 12.

Paper 1 Syllabus

• Physics 

  Kinetic Theory of Gases, Kinematics, Properties of Solids & Liquids, Magnetic Effects of Current, Gravitation, Laws of motion, Physics & Measurement, Oscillations & Waves, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetic Waves, Work, Energy & Power, Optics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Rotational Motion.

• Chemistry 

  The states of Matter, Redox reactions, Surface Chemistry, Equilibrium, Molecular Structure, D and F Block Elements, Chemical Bonding, Hydrogen, Solutions, Basic concepts of chemistry, Components with Halogens, Nitrogen, Chemical Kinetics, Atomic Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Block Elements, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Kinetics.

• Mathematics 

  Coordinate Geometry, Binomial Theorem, Quadratic Equations, Integral Calculus, Vector Algebra, Sets, Relations & Functions, Sequences & Series, Trigonometry, Permutation & Combination, Limits & Continuity, 3D Geometry, Statistics & Probability, Differential Equations, Matrices & Determinants, Complex Numbers.

Paper 2 & 3 Syllabus

The Mathematics section for both B.Arch and B.Planning is the same as for Paper 1 with the same topics. The Aptitude syllabus for Part 1 and Part 2 are as follows:

Aptitude Syllabus for Part 1 

• The capability of visualizing various sides of 3D items.
• Transformation capabilities of 3D objects from 2D drawings.
• Mental Capability of Analytical & Reasoning concepts.
• Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials. Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build—environment.
• Visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings.
• Visualizing different sides of three-dimensional objects.

Aptitude Syllabus for Part 2 

• Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of building forms, elements, objects, color texture, contrast and harmony in three-dimensional perceptions.
• Designing and drawing abstract shapes and patterns in pencil.
• Generation of elevations, Plan, and 3 D views of objects.
• Creating two dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given forms.
• Sketching of scenes and activities of urbanscape landscape and rural life.

Drawing Test Syllabus 

• Portraying of scenes and exercises from the memory of urbanscape and scenes for open spaces, festivals, markets, road scenes, landmarks, recreational spaces, waterway fronts, wildernesses, trees, plants, etc.
• Forming two dimensional and three-dimensional structures utilizing given shapes and structures.
