According to the 07th central pay commission, the SSC JE Salary in 2022 would be in the pay scale of Rs 35400-112400/- with grade pay of Rs. 4200. SSC JE Salary 2022

SSC JE Allowances 2022
The candidates will be entitled to the following allowances along with their basic pay. The allowances are:
- House Rent Allowance(HRA)
- Dearness Allowances (DA)
- Transport Allowances
- Ration Money
- Children Education Allowances
- Special Allowances
House Rent Allowances (HRA)
- The House rent allowance (HRA) will depend upon your posting centre. The minimum entitled HRA for Class X, Y and Z cities is Rs. 5400/- pm, Rs. 3600/- pm and Rs.1800/- pm respectively. The HRA would be 24%, 16% and 8% of the Basic pay for X, Y and Z class cities respectively.
The House Rent Allowances (HRA) varies across different places in the Country based on the class classification.

SSC JE In-hand Salary 2022
Allowances rate
- Basic Pay: 35400/- (Level 6)
- Dearness Allowance (DA): 17% of Basic Pay = Rs.6018
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): 24% of (Class X city, Metropolitan cities) =Rs. 8496
- Transport Allowance (TA): Rs. 3600/-
- DA on TA: Rs. 324/-
- Gross Salary: Rs. 53838/-
Deductions
- National Pension Scheme (NPS) : 10% of (Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance) = Rs. 4141.8/-
- Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) = Rs. 225
- Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) = Rs. 60
- Total deductions = Rs. 4426.8
So the in-hand Salary of an SSC JE engineer would be around: Gross Salary – Deductions = Rs. 49411.2
There would be slight variation in the rate since HRA would not be the same for all locations.
- Government contribution towards National Pension Scheme (NPS) = Rs. 3859/- so the total monthly NPS contribution is Rs. 3859 + 4141 = Rs. 8000
Depending upon the posting location, you may get accommodation. If the employer is providing you with accommodation then you won’t get HRA in your monthly salary. Most of the department offices have canteen facilities where you can buy meals, groceries, and other consumer items at reasonable prices. Whenever you get a transfer, your employer will provide you with the relocation charges.

- A newly recruited SSC Junior Engineer will get a starting salary of Rs. 40,000 or more.
- If you get posted in Jammu and Kashmir, or in North East Areas you are entitled to Special Duty Allowance (SDA). SDA rate is 12 per cent of the basic pay (= Rs.4248).
- You may get Special Compensatory Allowance (SCA) too depending upon the posting locations.
- You may not get SDA and SCA if not posted in areas like Northeast India, Jammu and Kashmir etc.
- Your Transport Allowance rates will vary according to your posting locations.
- If your employer is providing you with accommodation, the employer will deduct water bills, and license fees from your salary.

All these posts are General Central Service Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted, NonMinisterial positions. SSC Junior engineers are entitled to the salary in the Pay Band-2, Rs.9300-34800/- + Grade Pay Rs.4200/-.
