• Planning: The candidate has to make an estimate for repairs and renovation and should be able to know the work of a contractor and handle workers/laborers. The junior engineer is assigned to design the blueprints for flagship projects carried in their respective department.
• Scheme Execution:  Junior Engineer must have a thorough understanding of the schemes of the government and must ensure the smooth workflow of those schemes. The Junior Engineer is an integral part of these schemes and needs to execute all necessary tasks. The Junior Engineers will be posted under several government projects where he/she is subject to execute the scheme according to the requirements.
• Accounts: A Junior Engineer is responsible for maintaining bills for all work carried out by the contractor. A Junior Engineer may also be responsible for contributing to the bookkeeping process incurred by the section he is working for. The SSC Junior Engineer must look after the stocks and he/she is also bound to pass the bills to the contractor.
• Assisting Superiors:  Junior Engineer must report to higher authorities on a daily basis. The junior engineer is the boss of his or her section and superiors will have to be briefed about all happenings in the department and the project that a Junior Engineer is part of.
• Technical skills: Being a Junior Engineer means that you should have a good deal of technical skills that you would have imbibed during your graduation, which you are required to apply on the job. Most of the expertise would require to be applied in areas of Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical.
• Maintenance of Equipment: Junior Engineers must ensure the safety of equipment and also ensure that equipment is maintained. All equipment on the premises must be safe, reliable and efficient.
• Implementation of Design: Junior Engineers must implement design after using CAD software or modeling software.
• Liaison with suppliers: Junior Engineer must liaison with suppliers to get the best products.
• Undertake research: Junior Engineer must voluntarily undertake research from time to time and involve in acting increase of knowledge.
• Test Products: Junior Engineers may have to test products as see how they perform under different types of conditions. This will vary according to the filed you are posted in either Civil, mechanical or Electrical.
• Write Reports: Junior Engineers must prepare reports and give it to superiors. These reports will contain a wide range of details on the performance of equipment and apparatus.
