To apply for the IBPS RRB vacancies, the candidate must be either a-
- (i) a Citizen of India or
- (ii) a subject of Nepal or
- (iii) a subject of Bhutan or
- (iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
- (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
- For candidates other than citizen of India and falling under the rest of the categories mentioned above has to present a certificate of eligibility by the Government of India.
Proficiency in Language CriteriaÂ
- Candidates applying for a state should have studied that state language up to grade 8 at least in government recognised boards.
- If candidates do not meet the requirement in the local language at the time of selection then he/she/they will be given a time of six months from the date of joining to acquire the proficiency.

Candidates can apply under the PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category if they have a minimum 40% disability certified by a competent medical authority. Candidates must provide the required disability details and documents while submitting the application form to claim the applicable benefits.
The PwD category includes the following:
- Visually Impaired (VI): Candidates with total blindness or significant loss of vision, as defined under the applicable disability guidelines.
- Benefits for Visually Impaired candidates: Eligible candidates can use magnified text during the exam and receive 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour of the examination. However, magnified text will not be available if the candidate uses a scribe.
- Hearing Impaired (HI): Candidates with 60 decibels or more hearing loss in the better ear in the conversational frequency range.
- Orthopedically Challenged (OC): Candidates with at least 40% locomotor disability or cerebral palsy with locomotor impairment can apply under this category. Eligible candidates can receive 20 minutes of compensatory time for every hour of the examination.
- Intellectual Disability: Candidates with more than 40% intellectual disability, including autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability or mental illness, are eligible for 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour, whether or not they use a scribe.
Note: Candidates claiming PwD benefits must submit the required disability certificate and supporting documents as specified by IBPS.
Guidelines Persons with Disability Criteria
The candidates who are included in the physically disabled categories have to follow certain guidelines that will help them to give the entrance examination without any problem and difficulty. Given below, we are sharing some of the guidelines issued by the authorities especially for people suffering from various disorders. The candidates are also requested to produce a certificate in order to use the benefits provided for certain categories. Make sure that you are submitting the paperwork with your application form.
Candidates Using Scribe
Candidates whose writing speed is adversely affected due to their disability can use a scribe at his/their own risk. The candidate who chooses to sit with a scribe must acquaint the scribe with the following rules that are applicable in IBPS RRB 2025 examination-
- The scribe will not be arranged by IBPS RRB 2025 examination committee, the candidate will have to arrange for a scribe at his or her own cost.
- The scribe arranged by the candidate can belong to any stream but if a candidate sitting for the post of Specialist’s Officers arranges for a scribe, he/she must keep in mind that the scribe must be from an academically different stream from that prescribed for the post.
- An undertaking must be signed by the scribe as well as the candidate confirming that the scribe fulfils all the eligibility conditions required by IBPS.
- Those candidates who use a scribe shall be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes or otherwise advised for every hour of the examination.
- Scribe requirements must be mentioned in the application form along with the request for time concession.
- If the candidate or scribe fails to follow rules and regulations laid down by IBPS RRB 2025, both candidate, as well as a scribe, will be held guilty and the candidature of the candidate shall stand cancelled along with disciplinary actions as applicable.
Guidelines for candidates with Locomotor Disability and Cerebral Palsy
- Candidates with a minimum of 40% impairment shall be provided with the concession of 20 minutes per hour in the writing section if locomotor disability and cerebral palsy hinder performance.
Guidelines for Visually Impaired Candidates
- Visually impaired candidates can opt for the contents of the IBPS RRB question paper to be magnified in the font. Such candidates shall be given extra 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised of examination. However, the magnifying facility shall not be available for the candidates who opt for scribe.
