In Kerala, Pay Revisions are done every 5 years. An LD Clerk, with 10 years of service, and who has passed the departmental tests will be getting around Rs. 27800 as basic pay, plus 15% DA and in a Metro City Rs. 2400 as HRA and CCA. So Gross Salary will be Rs.34370. Deductions: Pension Contribution=Rs.3197, GPF (minimum)=Rs.1700, Compulsory state life insurance and group insurance =600, professional tax =208 (collected as two installments of Rs. 1250). There can be further deductions if advances from GPF or Festival/House Building advance have been taken by the individual.
Income Tax will depend upon the investment pattern of the individual, and if correctly planned, will be nil.
So the Net Take home salary will be around Rs. 28500. If no leave is taken except casual leave during the year, the employee can encash one month’s leave every year, which will be the Gross amount without any deductions.
