National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is a financial institution owned by the Indian Government to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development in the country. The functions of NABARD include the propagation of technological innovations, financial and non-financial solutions, and institutional development. It is the top development financial institution in India which serves the needs of countrymen. This article shares a brief idea on the NABARD Grade B Job Profile 2020 – Role, Career Growth. NABARD has released the official notification for Grade A and B recruitment. The applications are invited through online mode only. The dates of application submission and exams were not announced yet.

NABARD Grade B Job Profile 2020 – Role, Career Growth

NABARD is a development finance institution and it is a flourishing sector from three decades onwards. It is solely dedicated to operations in the field of credit for agriculture and other economic activities in rural areas. In this article, we are going to share the details of NABARD Grade B Job Profile like role and responsibilities; and career growth. NABARD Grade A job position is for recruiting candidates to the Assistant Manager post and Grade B is for Manager posts. The candidates will be selected for this post through written examination and interview. There will be two tiers of examination that is Prelims and Mains. NABARD is the organization which can supervise the Regional Rural Banks and Rural Cooperative banks.

Job Profile of NABARD Grade B (Manager)

NABARD is one among the popular banks in India with new initiatives to promote agriculture and rural development. Most of the job youngsters were looking to set their career in banking sector, they can opt NABARD with 100%. The applicants were recruited on regular and contractual basis to different posts based on their eligibility. To fill up the posts in Grade A, B and C are regular basis recruitment. The Grade B post is Manager position which comes under the Assistant Manager (Grade A). The applicants those who are selected to the job should undergo a probationary period of two years. The selected candidates will be governed by the terms and conditions of the Service Regulations of the Bank in force at the time of joining.

Roles of Grade B – Manager

A manager is entrusted with the responsibilities such as;

  • After the probation period, the selected candidate will be appointed as a Manager of NABARD Bank.
  • NABARD Grade B Manager need to develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Monitoring accounting procedures.
  • Develop and approve the loans.
  • Functioning Relationships between officers and employees.
  • Monitor project completions for different projects at the same time.
  • Coordinate with various departments and facilitate inter-departmental assignments.

Career Growth of Grade B – Manager

If we are concerned about the promotions, a staff will get promotions only after going through departmental exams and interviews. Another case is if it Grade A or B, both are administrative posts further promotions unquestionably get extensive esteem and pay climb. Let’s understand the hierarchical order of post right from the post from Grade A, Grade B and so on.

The Grade B job position is higher than the Grade A (Assistant Manager) post in the hierarchy. Then comes the Assistant General Manager, Deputy, etc. When the designation changes the responsibilities and role to be performed will be increased respectively.

  • The next designation after Manager is that of Assistant General Manager (AGM) which is a highly prestigious post, though it comes with its own set of challenges.
  • An AGM can get promotion as a District Development Manager (DDM) in a rural district that works from a residence cum office.
  • It is a one-man office and DDM is entrusted with the responsibility for encouraging rural development activities and monitoring their progress.

The National Bank of Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) is a unique development financial institution, which came into existence on 12th July 1982. The formation of NABARD was proposed by the Sivaraman Committee in 1979, with the interest – to supply credit flow for the development of rural areas. It was initially started with an amount of Rs.100 crore. NABARD’s mission is to promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural prosperity through effective credit support, related services, institution development and other innovative initiatives.

Functions of NABARD

  • The main function of NABARD is to provide and manage credit flow for the promotion & development of agriculture, cottage, village and other small scale industries in rural areas across the country.
  • Providing refinancing support for building rural infrastructure.
  • Preparing district-level credit plans to motivate the Banking industry to achieve targets.
  • Supervising Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and State Co-operative Banks (SCBs).
  • Formulating new development schemes.
  • Providing training & market to handicraft artisans
  • Providing term loans with less interest rates.
  • Providing credit facilities to Marketing Federations
  • Assisting Co-operative banks and producer organizations financially
  • Providing Alternative Investment Funds (AIF)
  • Encouraging farmers and rural artisans to take up investment activities by providing long term and medium term refinance to banks, and building entrepreneurial culture among rural women & youth
  • Supervision and regulation of RRBs and SCBs
  • Supporting holistic development of the tribal communities
  • Providing credit to the un-reached and linkages to cottage & village industries, handicrafts, hand-loom and other decentralized sectors in rural areas, etc.
