Points to be Noted
- Candidates who claim higher/ equivalent qualification instead of qualification mentioned in the notification shall produce the relevant Government Order to prove the equivalency at the time of verification, then only such qualification shall be treated as equivalent to the prescribed qualification concerned. Candidates claiming equivalent/ higher qualifications on the basis of relevant provisions in the notification must produce higher/equivalency certificate from the concerned institution/ orders of Government in proof of equivalency.
- Experience Certificate should be in the format mentioned in the official document.
Requirements for Experience Certificate
- The post held or nature of assignment should be specified.
- All Experience Certificates shall be duly certified by the concerned Controlling Officer/ Head of Office of the Government. The Genuineness of the Certificate shall be subjected to verification and legal action will be taken against those who issue and produce bogus Certificate.
- The experience, qualification prescribed for appointment shall be acquired after obtaining the basic essential Post Graduate Qualification.
Visual Requirement
Candidates must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below with/ without glass. Each eye must have a full field of vision and color blindness will be a disqualification. Candidates shall produce a medical certificate (Original) at the time of verification certifying the visual standards specified above(including the field of vision and color blindness) obtained from a Medical officer of or above the rank of an Assistant surgeon.

Kerala PSC Scientific Officer Selection Process
If required, the Commission will conduct an OMR/ written exam to shortlist eligible candidates for the post of Scientific Officer. Those who qualify in the written exam will be called for an interview and subsequently for document and physical verification. Disciplinary action will be taken against those candidates who submit application for the post with false claims of possession of prescribed qualification, experience etc. and give confirmation for examination, irrespective of whether they have appeared or not for the examination. Those who qualify in the written exam will be called for an interview and document verification. Questions asked during the interview will be related to the subject.
Training
Any persons appointed to the post by Direct recruitment shall undergo 6 months training in all branches of Forensic Science in the Forensic Science Laboratory. They shall also undergo a training in that discipline of Forensic Science which will be dealt with in the division of Forensic Science laboratory to which he/ she will be appointed in a Forensic Science laboratory or in the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS), Government of India, New Delhi or similar institution to be decided by the Government on the advice of the Director General of Police for a minimum period of six months or for such period/ periods is required to complete the course of training in the institution/ institutions to which he/ she is deputed. The period of training and transit will be in service and treated as duty.
A trainee will be entitled to draw an amount equal to the minimum of the scale of pay of the post and the usual allowances. He will also be eligible for travelling allowances for to and fro journeys and journeys incidental to the training at the rates admissible to the officers drawing pay at the minimum of the scale of pay of the post under Kerala Service Rules.
Test
Every person appointed to this post should pass the Account Test for Executive Officers or Account Test (Lower) during the probation period if he has not already passed the test.
Probation
Every person appointed to the post shall on completion of the training, be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
Bond
Every person appointed to the post shall execute a Bond in such form as may be prescribed by the Government to serve the State Government for a minimum period of 5 years , after completion of training , failing which he will be liable to pay a sum of Rs.25,000(Rupees Twenty Five Thousand Only) a liquidated damages to the Government in addition to the actual cost of training assessed by the Accountant General (A&E), Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.

Kerala PSC Scientific Officer Application Process – How to Apply
- Candidates should go through the official notification to ensure that they satisfy all the criteria laid by the Commission.

- Applicants must first register through One Time Registration.
- Once registration is done, candidates can proceed to apply online. Those who have already registered can skip the registration process.
