Kerala PSC Police SI Eligibility Criteria 2024

Kerala Police SI Age Limit
- Category – i (Open Market) – 20-31- Only candidates born between
02.01.1992 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included). - Category – ii (Ministerial) – Should not have completed 36 (Thirty
six) years of age as on 01.01.2023 - Category – iii (Constabulary) – Should not have completed 36 (Thirty

Points to be Noted
- Candidates from the Ministerial staff and Constabulary will be allowed to apply
either for open competition or for the reserve quota but not for both. [As per G.O. (Ms) No.207/70/Home dated 05.10.1970] - The principles of Rules of reservation and rotation will apply only for Category(i) -Open market candidates. Candidates under Category (ii) and (iii) will be advised on the basis of merit only. [As per G.O. (Ms) No. 240/85/Home dated 30.12.1985]
- If sufficient number of suitable candidates are not available from the Ministerial staff, the vacancies reserved for them will be filled up from the constabulary as per the provisions contained in G.O. (Ms) No. 196/95/Home dated 26.07.1995. If sufficient number of candidates are not available from the Ministerial or Constabulary categories to fill up the quota reserved for them, the deficiency will be made good from Open Market. Kerala Police SI Educational Qualification
- Graduation in any discipline from any recognized university
- Only in the absence of sufficient number of qualified SC/ST candidates, applications of SC/ST candidates who have passed Intermediate/Pre University Examinations of recognised University shall be considered only to fill up the quota reserved for them under Category (i)(As per G.O(Ms)No. 239/Home dated 04.05.1961).
Points to be Noted
- Rule 10 (a) (ii) of Part II of KS & SSR in the notification is applicable.
- In addition to the qualification specified in the Notification, the qualifications declared by Government through executive orders or standing orders, as equivalent to the prescribed educational qualification and the higher qualifications of the notified and prescribed basic qualifications shall be accepted. The Government Order regarding the equivalent qualification/ higher qualification shall be produced as and when called for by the commission.
- In the case of difference in original caste/community claimed in the application and that entered in SSLC book, the candidate shall produce a gazette notification in this regard along with Non creamy layer certificate/Caste certificate issued by the competent revenue authority, at the time of certificate verification

Kerala Police SI Age Limit
Category – I – [Open Market]
- 20-31 years.
- Only candidates born between 02.01.1992 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post with usual relaxation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Communities.

Category – II – [Constabulary]
- 20-36 Years
- Only candidates born between 02.01.1987 and 01.01.2003 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post.
- The principles of Rules of reservation and rotation prescribed in Rules 14 to 17 of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules will not apply for the Department Quota.
- Candidates under this Category will be advised on the basis of merit only.
Kerala Police SI Educational Qualification
- Must be a Graduate.
- In the case of Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates, if sufficient number of fully qualified candidates are not available, applications of those who have passed PreUniversity/ Pre-Degree or equivalent Examination of recognized University shall be considered only to fill up the quota reserved for them under Category (I).

- KS&SSR Part-II Rule 10 (a) (ii) is applicable.
- In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the Notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, in the Special Rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be considered. The copy of the Government Orders declaring equivalent/ higher qualifications shall be produced by the candidate as and when called for by the Commission.

Kerala PSC SI Selection Process 2024

Advice to Upload your Photograph

- The file size should not exceed 30kb and it should be in JPG format
- The background of the photo should be either light-colored or white in color

- Photograph wearing cap goggles, (except cap, veil worn in adherence to religious custom), photographs showing a portion of the face, photo with unclear face shall not be accepted.
Application Guidelines to Candidates
- Candidates are advised to keep a printout or soft copy of the online application for future reference. Candidates can take the printout of the application by clicking on the link ‘My applications’ in their profile. All correspondences with the Commission, regarding the application should be accompanied with the print out of the application. Applications submitted not in accordance with the conditions of the notification will be summarily rejected if non compliance with the notification is found in due course of processing. Original documents to prove qualification, experience, community, age, etc., have to be produced as and when called for.
- If written/OMR/Online Test is conducted as part of this selection, candidates possessing requisite qualification as per Para 7 above alone shall submit a Confirmation for writing the examination through their One Time Registration profiles. Such candidates alone can generate and download the Admission Tickets prior to 15 days of Test. The application of candidates who do not submit confirmation within the stipulated period, will be rejected absolutely. The periods regarding the submission of confirmation and the availability of admission tickets will be published in the examination calendar itself. Information in this regard will be given to the candidates in their respective profiles and in the mobile phones registered in it.
- The Examination Schedule and the Syllabus will be notified separately.
- Candidates who have AADHAAR card should add AADHAAR card as the ID Proof in their profile.
- Appropriate disciplinary action as per Rule 22 of the Kerala Public Service Commission Rules of Procedure shall be initiated against those candidates who submit applications with bogus claims of qualification regarding education, experience etc., and are liable to be disqualified for being considered for a particular post or debarment from applying to the Commission either permanently or for any period or the invalidation of their answer scripts or products in a written/ practical test or the initiation of criminal or other proceedings against them or their removal or dismissal from office or the ordering of any other disciplinary action against them if they have already been appointed, or any one or more of the above.
Kerala PSC SI Recruitment 2024: Conditions of Service
Upon selection, candidates will undergo one year of training in the Police Training College. Following this, they will receive 10 ½ months of practical training in the district. It should be noted that these training periods will not be considered for probation, increment, or service. Upon successful completion of training, candidates will be appointed and put on probation for two years, during which they will be expected to work continuously for three years. During their training period in the police training college and practical training in the districts, and until they complete their probationary period, trainees will be paid a stipend as decided by the government from time to time.
According to G.O. (Ms) No. 44/85/Home dated 25.02.1985, the Deputy Inspector General of Police has the authority to extend the training period of trainees whose performance is found to be unsatisfactory, but only up to a maximum of six months in each case. If a trainee’s performance does not improve even after the extension, the matter will be escalated to the Inspector General of Police (headquarters) and the State Police Chief. They may decide to discharge the trainee from training after giving due notice.
Kerala PSC SI Recruitment 2024: Probation
- Every person appointed to service after completion of training shall be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
