Kerala State Public Service Commission (KPSC) has already invited applications from eligible candidates for the Food Safety Officer Posts under the food safety department; Category number 499/2019. The name of the post is Food Safety Officer and the scale of pay is Rs.27800 – 59400/-, number of vacancies is also not revealed: as per the notification it is anticipatory vacancies.

Applicants can submit their application for the position of Food Safety Officer until 05^th February 2020 in the official website of Kerala Public Service ONE TIME REGISTRATION. Last date for submission of application is 05.02.2020, Wednesday up to 12.00 midnight. The job location will be across Kerala. Applications must be submitted only through online.

Kerala PSC Food Safety Officer Admit Card

The candidates who have given confirmation for the Kerala PSC Food Safety Officer post can download the hall ticket from their Kerala PSC profile page. The candidates are allowed to enter the examination only by validating their admission ticket. The admit card will be given in KPSC  website and you will get the notification of admission ticket into your registered mobile number. If the lockdown is again extending, there will be a delay in conducting the exam. The name of the candidate, photograph, signature, application number, register number, name of post, date of birth, category and gender, venue and time of the examination will be provided on the admit card. The applicant should verify the details on the admit card. Candidates should carry the following documents too along with the admission ticket:

i. A valid authorized photo id proof. (Valid id can be PAN card / e-Aadhaar card / Aadhaar card / voter id card / passport )

ii. PwD certificate- for those who are eligible.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus of Food Safety Officer

The exam type for the Kerala PSC Food Safety Officer will be online or multiple choice objective (OMR) type questions. The duration of the exam will be 1 hour and 15 minutes, a total of 100 questions will be in the question paper and each question will carry one mark per question and each wrong answer there is a deduction of 0.33 marks. The aspirants can prepare for the exam according to the syllabus. The Kerala PSC Food Safety Officer examination contains 10 main topics. Food Safety Officer Detailed Syllabus is as follows: food technology, diary technology, veterinary sciences, food safety and allied laws, nutritional biochemistry and food analysis, microbiological, biotechnological and medical aspects, agricultural sciences, Indian national movement & renaissance in Kerala, mental ability and test of reasoning and general English.

Candidates who have completed their degree or master’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Veterinary Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Microbiology are eligible for the post.

The lower age limit and upper age limit of Food Safety Officer is 18-36 years respectively. The medium of examination will be in English only.  Date of examination is not yet published. Due to Corona virus lockdown, all the exams were postponed and the exam date will be rescheduled.

The main duties of Food safety officers are to ensure that the food products are safe for consumption. They have to inspect food processing facilities and procedures to ensure the safety of the consumers. They may also test samples of food products and investigate complaints.

The Kerala PSC Food Safety Officer admit card will be provided two weeks before the date of examination.
