Reading the Codes and Manuals is only half of Departmental Test preparation. The other half is practice under exam conditions. A mock test shows you how fast you can find a provision, how many questions you can answer without guessing, and where you lose marks to negative marking. The Entri app has mock tests to help you practise for the Kerala PSC Departmental Test 2026. This guide explains how the exam pattern shapes a good mock test, how to attempt one, and how to learn from your result.

Kerala PSC Departmental Test Mock Test 2026: Why It Matters
1: Which Year First Assembly Election was held in Kerala?
- Real pattern practice: Most Departmental Tests are objective (online or OMR), so you practise the same format you will face.
- Negative marking awareness: Each wrong answer costs 1/3 mark. Mocks teach you when to answer and when to skip.
- Time control: Most papers are 1.5 hours and some are 2 hours. Mocks train you to finish with time to review.
- With-books look-up speed: Timed practice shows how long you take to find a rule in a permitted book.
- Weak area detection: Your result shows which Code, Act or Manual needs more revision.

Join Now!How to Attempt a Kerala PSC Departmental Test Mock Test 2026
Before the test
- Choose the mock test that matches your test and paper.
- Keep only the books that are permitted for that paper within reach (for with-books practice). For without-books papers, keep nothing.
- Set a quiet time and finish the test in a single sitting.
- Use the real duration: 1.5 hours or 2 hours.
During the test
- Round 1: Answer the questions you know without searching.
- Round 2: For with-books papers, look up the questions that need a quick check.
- Round 3: Revisit doubtful questions. Guess only when you can eliminate at least two options.
- Keep a few minutes at the end to review.
After the test
- Check your score and net marks after negative marking.
- Note every wrong and skipped question with the correct rule and its location in the book.
- Group your mistakes by Code, Act or Manual.
- Revise those areas, then take the next mock test.
Kerala PSC Departmental Test 2026 Mock Test Strategy by Paper Type
With-books papers
- Practise finding provisions fast. Learn the layout of each book.
- Do not spend more than a minute or two on a single look-up. Mark it and move on.
- Use only government publications and permitted material, the same as in the real exam.
Without-books papers
- Revise your one-page notes before each mock test, then attempt the test without any book.
- Focus on definitions, time limits, powers and rule numbers.
- Repeat the questions you got wrong after a week.
Judicial and law-based papers
- Use bare Acts only.
- Practise with the new criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
Language and practical papers
- Language tests are descriptive, so practise writing translation, precis, comprehension and essays by hand within the time limit.
- Practical and viva voce papers (such as Jail tests and the Divisional Accountants viva) need drills and scenario practice, not online mocks.
Tips to Score More in Departmental Test Mock Tests
- Take mock tests only after one full reading of the paper.
- Treat every mock test like the real exam: same duration, same book rules.
- Do not guess every doubtful question because of negative marking.
- Keep a wrong-answer notebook with the rule and its location.
- Revise the new criminal laws for any paper that includes BNS, BNSS or BSA.
- Check the latest Time Table and Syllabus PDF so that your mocks match your test.
Choose the mock test that matches your test and paper, follow the real pattern and time limit, analyse every wrong answer, and repeat until you cross the 40% mark comfortably. Start practising on the Entri app, and keep checking the Kerala PSC website for the latest Time Table and Syllabus.
