How to Prepare for SSC Stenographer Exam 2021
The Staff Selection Commission’s Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’ is an annual recruitment event to select assistants to various central government departments. This non-gazetted Personal Assistant position has a pay scale of Rs. 9,300-34,800 for Grade ‘C’ and Rs. 5,200-20,200 for Grade ‘D’ respectively making this an alluring position for anybody with senior secondary school qualification. For the selection, the commission conducts Computer Based Test followed by the Stenographic skill tests.

- Applicants who opt to take the Stenography Skill Test in English will be required to learn Hindi Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, failing which the candidate’s probation may not be cleared by appointing organizations.
- The stenography skill test will be of qualifying nature and the SSC will fix the qualifying standards for candidates belonging to various communities.
- During the skill test, the examinees will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in Hindi/ English at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D,’ the dictation speed is 80 w.p.m.
- After the dictation, the candidates are expected to be transcribed on the computer within the given period. The transcription time is as follows:-
- For Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 50 minutes (English), and 65 minutes (Hindi)
- For Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 40 minutes (English), and 55 Minutes (Hindi)

SSC Stenographer Preparation
Like all other Staff Selection Commission exams, success in the preliminary stage Computer Based Test is mandatory for the SSC Stenographer selection too. Since the Stenography skill test is of a qualifying nature only, the final selection will be purely based on the candidate’s performance in the CBT.
