SSC Stenographer: Exam Pattern

There will be Two phases for the exam:

Phase 1

Computer-based Test consists of 3 papers:

• General awareness (50 questions)
• English language and comprehension (100 questions)
• General intelligence and reasoning (50 questions)
  So, in total, there will be 200 questions with 200 marks. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Phase 2

Those who score above the cut-off in Phase 1 are qualified to attend the Phase 2-Skill test. This is of qualifying nature. Candidates will have to attend a dictation of ten minutes in English or Hindi. Their efficiency in typing also will be tested by asking them to transcribe certain words into the computer with a speed of 100 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade D. The skill test will be held at the commission’s regional offices or at other centers.
